6 Months Later:

"YOU YO DADDY SON"

I laughed as I watch my best friend Gerrod dancing to JuJu On That Beat.

"Yo sis, come up here and dance for the scope!" I immediately rejected. I refuse to embarrass myself with this nut.

"WATCH ME HIT THIS REVERSE!!!" I can't lie, he did hit it. I recorded him on Snapchat and posted it.

"G, I gotta get ready for work." I jumped up and walked into the bathroom.

"Ah yeah, I forgot, potheads still have the ability to work." I threw a towel at him.

I picked up the habit of smoking weed for a minute now. It makes me stress-free, it's like a quick fix to my problems. It's been a stressful couple of months, so this is more of a favor to myself.

I brush my hair and pull it into a bun.

I work at a music store in Downtown Houston, I love music, so it was a really obvious reason why I applied for this job. Business is boomin', it's the hottest music store in Houston, and we get a lot of celebrity appearances. Zaytoven, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Jay Z, Migos; it's the hottest spot to be at no matter the season.

I slip on my torn jeans and a random graphic tee from my drawer and grab my white bomber jacket out of my closet.

"You seen my Forces?" I looked under my bed, not remembering where I put them.

"They're by the couch." I walk downstairs and put on my shoes.

"Come on, Harley waiting on you at home. She miss you," referring to his girlfriend.

I take my keys off the counter and I walk into the garage. I unlock the door to my cherry red Chevy Sonic and hurry inside to turn on the ignition.

"I READ IT AWAY

AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY

IT'S JUST LIKE

CRANES IN THE SKY

I DON'T WANNA FEEL THAT METAL CLOUD."

I sing to Solange as I pull out the driveway. The ride there isn't that long at all, I just like driving slow to feel the vibe of the busy day. I pull into the parking lot in front of the store and get out and walk inside.

"Hey Cash." His name is really Cassius but he likes to be called Cash. Cash is probably little bit older than me, but he's cool as hell. He is the manager of the store and to be honest I don't really have a problem with that, we get along perfectly well.

"Wassup B? Hey we got some more Yachty and Logic tapes that need to be placed on display. You got me?" I nodded and headed to the back.

"YO WASSUP BREA?" Shaena yelled. She's like a older sister to me. She is truly the life of the party.

"Hey girl. Can you help me with these tapes?" She grabbed a box from my hand and walked to the front.

As I'm walking to the front, I see this fine ass light-skinned tatted 6-foot-2 frame standing at the register talking to Cash.

"Shae....pssst.... SHAE?!" Her ass over there dancing in her own little world.

"Girl what?"

"Who is that?" He turned on my direction and locked eyes with me.

"Bitch that's Kendrick, he a lil local rapper down in 3rd Ward...."

I am too stuck on his cute baby face and tattoos to be paying attention.

"Oh shit he seen me!" I quickly turn around.

"Girl he coming over here! Don't do nothin' crazy." He starts to approach us

"What's been poppin' Shae."

"Hi Kendrick." She goes back to stocking the tapes.

"Ayo ma, I seen you staring at me." I quickly turn red.

"I'm sorry, I-"

"I think you cute too." A cute little grin appeared on his face. "What's your name, beautiful?"

"Brea."  He licked his bottom lip and handed me his phone.

"Well, Brea, would you mind giving me your number?" I nodded and put my number in his phone. I handed it back to him and rubbed my arms.

"I'll give you a call later tonight. If that's ight with you." I slowly agreed.

He made his way towards Cassius, saluting him before he left the store.

Boy, oh, boy. I'm not ready for another episode of this.
