'Chapter 10
They had to break the silence but they didn't know how to. He spent his nights walking the curtains of cold and breathing freezy smoke. She spent her bed time twisting the corners of her rug. The unease had taken over both Rohanthan and Ella.
It was last day of harbour load arrivals, when Rohanthan felt the nerves high. He waited eagerly for all his stock to arrive. Finally his trade was going to complete and with worthy success. Sitting on the side log he fiddled his fingers.
Right at that moment a ginger green dressed girl sat next to him. She dropped a small unzipped bag onto the floor. They were filled with red roses. Rohanthan's eyes turned to his side as soon as he saw those roses, they were the sign of the only beautiful girl haunting his dreams. It was Ella.
Rohanthan felt luck streaming through his nerves. For an instance his thoughts were off his trade. He had spent days of blank visions of love with this unknown female.
He wanted to start small talks but the siren of ship arrival ceases the moment. Rohanthan makes a bow to the lady and excuses himself, heading towards the deck.
Ella blinks at the sudden retrieval. She is mesmerized by this man's beauty. First day of laying her eyes on this man was a feel of prince of heaven's on land. She had fallen and chased this man's love in her dreams.
Today she had mustered her feelings into her bag of roses and walked into the path of opening up to him. But, he's preoccupied into something important and it seems to be heavy job. Her insides bleach into shine as she stares into his flexing muscles and royal tone.
She had never heard a man speak with such control. He looked strong and sounded strong, just like the prince she had always dreamed of.
The great wall clock of the harbour chimes the time of dawn. Ella reboots her conscious back to present and walks towards the deck.
He stands still holding the rails tight. She can feel unknown tension in his demeanor. Her heart urges to soothe him out of it but it is late and she must leave with a good bye. She just leans her hand slightly towards him. Feeling shaky she curls her hand back into her scarf. The wind is heavy and pulls her frills towards his buttocks, brushing it slightly.
"Oh!", she exhales turning flush red.
Rohanthan turns. But, Ella is already a 100 meter afar pushing herself off the deck.
She is smiling due to the slight contact but, it fades as soon as he turns. The mist of dawn is slightly covering the distance between them but, she vaguely feels struck due to his eyes. They are the ones she saw before he took off to collect the load. They have turned steaming red and scary as well.
Was he crying? Or is the reflection of sun going down in Rosefield? Red and blood red.
She runs her heart out till she reaches the door of her home. Home, a smell of safety. '
Am I stupefied? Most certainly. My heart sings with this revelation of love. Me and Rohan are made for togetherness from 200 years! But his eyes were red..
My subconscious billing some thoughts after this chapter. My ideas are still surface swimming. But it can breathe into depths. It is enigma.
Pushing the book aside I lean onto the stubble roots of the tree. My head is pounding and I decide to rest it a bit.
In the depths of plush greenery my eyelids close to the serene sounds of the woods.
.............................................................
My phone buzzes and for a second I am startled. But when I check my caller id my insides fume. It is the man because of whom all this started, my dad.
I immediately divert the call. I hate him more when he becomes an all caring arse.
Slipping the phone into my pocket I pull into the rug further. The chill is a bizarre. But the triumph in my soul is evident. The stroll in the backyard was alighting.
My apple buzzes again and it is a ping this time.
Dad: Won't be home tonight. Asked Mrs. Richards to be around. Stay safe.My pulse halts on fire and every word in the message reminds me of what I have lost. No one in this world cares that this poor Kate is alone, in a trauma of hellish life.
Tears stream without hesitation.
Somewhere in the depths of the thickets wolf howls,
Deepening the wound in depths of my insides.
Again and again it howls,
Stretching the night into darker sides.
