Hello! I'm Aruba and I'm only two years old. I haven't lived much of a life till now not that I remember much but I remember enough to fill this page.
So I hear the pleasant sound of me trying to recreate the noise grandpa was making while cooking. Oh the wonderful sound of a metal clinking another in various frequencies.
I was only doing this because I was bored. Yes bored. I hadn't started going to school so didn't have much to do.
As I was explaining to myself why I was doing all this, I was distracted from my boring life as well as the swift movement of my grandpa successfully getting the metal off of my hands.
I noticed my sister in one corner of the house trying this new thing called 'studying'. Must be fun. She does that all the time now. Wonder what secrets of life those colourful books hold. She got them from this place called school where I'll probably have to go to after I turn 3.
My sister's name is Allen. Yes she is my sister, not brother. She is four years older than me, guess that makes her 2 fingers plus 4 fingers make the pinky finger in my right which is the sixth! She's six years old. I did not know much about her but I remember she sleeps in the same house as me so guess we're close like my mom and dad.
My mom works in the morning meaning she won't be with me. So does my dad but he works a lot more cause he's usually home after my sister falls asleep(or so I remember).
The next day grandpa found a new tactic to keep me busy while he cooked.
He asked me to start counting from one and end counting when he's done with cooking. I remember counting till two hundred thousand and five hundred and eighty one. Did you even know what a million was when you were just two years old? I know I did.
I noticed how everyday in the mornings, my parents were always busy to get my sister ready for school. They did not even notice poor me trying to get their attention by looking all cute. So I started messing with everything they were doing so that they would notice me but my plans were completely foiled when I realised that I wasn't tall enough to get down the table on my own because my wonderful dad thought that it would be hilarious to let me be on something 2 times taller than me so that I wouldn't disturb them.
As I was in this helpless situation, my cousin brother Elgin who was probably 20 years or so, was the only one who decided I looked hopeless enough to be awarded with a treat and bought me a candy.
As I saw them getting ready for their respective jobs and school, I wondered whether I also will have to do this everyday. How fun will that be! Living life on the go..having something to look forward to every day...being a 'student' what ever that is..being a magazine designer(I think I know what this one is) like mom.
I saw them all leave me one by one conveying the message that no one is going to accompany me in this walk of life and the only thing permanent about life is my tiny self who can't get herself off this table, and this thing in my head which won't shut up.
I saw my babysitter get home and she made me do everything that needed to be done so that I looked more like a kid than.. you know. I mean the brushing of my teeth and crushing of my bones called bathing.
Her name is Stella and she loved me. And I loved her too. She also makes the house look better and the kitchen too.
As she was doing the kitchen stuff, I spent my time jumping on the bed trying my luck with not falling. Suddenly I couldn't see.
I mean I literally couldn't see. I screamed to Stella and she said it's called power cut. And also this is kinda like what happens in the night when all the lights are switched off. Like, the tube light stops working. Oh.
And I was asked to quietly wait on the bed while 'power' was not home.(And this is how I learnt not to be scared of the dark) Okay.
I heard the meow of the black cat which visited our house everyday around lunch time.I heard the next door neighbour calling my sitter.
I heard a crow, you know the bird which crows? yeah that.
I think I also heard the boogeyman.
I can safely say I am not deaf, only blind.
I sat there bravely facing the darkness and also trying to face the cat under the bed while trying to not fall asleep.
Now I smell food.
Lunch time!
-------------------------------------------
Then the sun reduced its brightness to a minimum and evening it was.
I noticed that it seemed like the time for my mom's arrival. I am not aware of the clock concept.
Allen was already home munching on something."Mom's home" came my sister's voice.
