GONE was the little boy who wept tons of tears when his father was killed right in front of his eyes. There would never be a hint that he was the same pint-sized child who was defenseless during the death of the Titans. If it wasn’t from his Dad who hid him on the underground tunnel that was specially made for him days before the destruction of the Titans, he might be dead as well. He spent his whole time researching for acquiring a power that could never be defeated. He wanted revenge. Could anyone blame the man who witnessed the most hurtful scene? No one could blame him, and not even the deity in front of him.
He indulged at the sight and enjoyed the fact on how vulnerable the Goddess was. Ten years ago, he was at the same situation like hers, poor-rooted, weak and hopeless. He snapped his fingers and his normal body were instantly covered with fire. Ten years was enough to learn a lot about Sorcery. He was able to learn how to use the elements of fire, water, air, earth and even lightning. And there’s no turning back now. No one could defeat him, not even the joint forces of the Olympian Gods.
He gave her a chagrin smile when he saw her face covered with terror and fear.
“Hopeless, aren’t we?” He gave another snap and a fireball appeared in his hands. He played it like a normal ball and threw it exactly on Stick’s stomach. She groaned in pain as the flaming ball landed on her belly.
Stick felt the excruciating pain caused by the high temperature. It was unbearable and tiny droplets of tears boiled every time it fell from her eyes. Those boiling tears added to the pain especially to her face. All she could muster was to lift her arms and stay alive.
Seeing her suffered made him felt a tinge of success, this was it, this was what he wanted. He was all too ready to put an end to her life when he saw something on her eyes. A mix of pure courage and strength casted a darker shade on her eyes. Despite the boils and the killing temperature, she managed to put up this kind of expression and he wondered how the deity was still surpassing a death sentence.
“Not too fast Titan. Remember that I am a daughter of Hades, the dethroned King of the Kings, and the most powerful of the Olympians, don’t you think this is too early to give up?” Stick evilly smirked at him as she imagined and internalized that the heat she was feeling was just the same as the sun’s heat that used to kiss her fair skin back on the days as a hotdog vendor.
Finally, the pain she was feeling lessened until it reached the range of the same temperature as the heat of the sun.
“Impressive. You’ve beaten the element of fire, how about some refreshments my dear?”
Von snapped his fingers once again and the fire that wrapped his body transformed into a lump of water. He almost appeared like Poseidon’s son and Stick’s face showed a glint of dismay.
Not the water, I couldn’t swim. I’m not in good terms with water.
She stirred when a direct force pushed her and as soon as she looked back, she saw the monstrous form of water, one that she hated the most. Back when she was ten, she was drowned in the water and no one was there to save her. She could have died that day if it wasn’t for Isobel who saved her. That incident traumatized her and didn’t allow her to learn to conquer her fear.
“My special refreshments is just for you milady, happy?” His white enamel teeth were exposed in a mocking way. Stick silently grunted and closed her eyes.
Another force drowned her and her lungs were filled with water, making her hard to breath. Instead of air, water entered her nostrils every time she sucks air in for oxygen. The salty water burned her lungs and she was truly in trouble. In just an instant, she was surrounded with water and on top of an inverted whirlpool sat Von who was enjoying the view of her being drowned through his powers. It was not just the difficulty of breathing. She was also having the struggle of seeing what was real and what was from her traumatic past. The hurtful event haunted her until this very moment. For an instant, she felt like she was the ten-year old orphan again.
