Part VI
Three hours had gone by since the incident happened and I arrived home. My first day was definitely not what someone would consider normal. Honestly, I feel like I cheated my way through it. I shrugged my thoughts away until I noticed something as I walked through my hallway. I saw the mirror and I was shocked to see what was looking back at me.
My green eyes that are normally bright like emeralds were now dull, my radiant red hair wasn't so radiant, my skin was paler than ever and I even look like my already skinny body was getting skinnier. With all the stress of moving and switching schools, I forgot about the most important thing for days: Feeding.I sighed as I realized how sickly I looked.
I went to the fridge and pulled out one of the blood bags my mom stocked up on from her job at the hospital. I ripped the tube and used is as a straw. I could feel the life returning to my body and I glanced in the mirror once more.
My eyes looked like the gems they were created after and my hair was red like the blood it was made from. My skin was still pale obviously but it looked a little better and my curves were looking so much better if I do say so myself.
I'm glad my mom was able to choose what I was to look like. I mean, it's one of the many reasons we've been running for so many years so at least it was worth it.
I started thinking of that day when I heard the doorbell ring. I looked at the clock. “7:53.” Damn, I guess I should probably get this over with.
I reluctantly opened the door to see the gorgeous face of Cade. Regardless of what happened, I can still think he's hot. I mean, who wouldn't like those piercing blue eyes and the way they contrasted with his raven black hair?
For a moment, I just stood and took in his full appearance. His body was muscular but not in a gross way. I think I can even see the top of a tattoo showing from his neckline. I was snapped from his thoughts when he spoke up “Can I come in?”
Usually vampires can't come in unless one invites them but since I'm a vampire as well, it doesn't really apply. I guess he was just being polite though or maybe it was just from habit. I nodded and moved to the side to let him come in. He stood awkwardly behind me as I shut the door. I motioned for him to sit on the couch, hoping to ease the tension in the room.
“So listen” he began, “I am sorry about earlier..I honestly just wanted you to go to the party tonight. With me.”
I nodded before speaking, “Yeah I get it. I overreacted but it still bothers me that you tried to take my free choice away.” I shrugged waiting for a response.
“You mean like you did to Mrs. Short?” I gave him a look of confusion before he continued, “The chem teacher. Everyone was talking about it.”
Immediately I felt guilty. I freaked out on him when I did the same damn thing to her and my other teachers too. I sighed and looked him in the eyes, “You're right.” An awkward silence came over us as we sat there quietly waiting for the other to say something.
“So how were you turned?” He asked. How was I going to explain something like this to a complete stranger? I sighed but decided to answer him anyways.
“I wasn't turned. I was born a vampire.” The reaction on his face was priceless. He's the first person I told so I wasn't use to such funny-looking expressions. I laughed and he became irritated with me.
“Don't laugh at me! You're the one who's lying to me!”
“I'm not lying, Cade! It's the truth!” I shouted back.
“It's not possible! Vampires can't have kids!”
“Are you sure? Is that what everyone tells you? We can't? Or they won't let us.” He realized very quickly that I was talking about the council. They make up the treaties and rules regarding every supernatural being. One of the guidelines for being a vampire is that you can't have children.
“What are you saying?”
“I'm saying that it may be impossible for two vampires to have a child but what about with the help of a witch?”
As soon as I finished my sentence, his eyes widened in fear, “Are you kidding me?! It's illegal for a vampire to associate with them! The vampire would be killed!” He was so confused but I could tell he was actually considering what I was saying.
It's all true too. Every word of it. Before I could speak, someone knocked on the door. I got up to get it but before opening it, I looked through the peephole. Fear, panic, terror, and worry washed over me when I saw who it was.
