You might wonder. "What if there was a world of books? Where the characters we read about lived?" Well, there is, to say it simply. That was my home, where I stood an outsider to the other people who didn't care to recognize me for who I truly was. Until now. I'm 14 years old, ready to make my own choices. Why? In the world where I was born, called Novella, your future was written for you, by authors. You were created, and made to play a part on the theatrical stage of a book. Only I wasn't created out of thin air like that. Unlike the people of Novella, who were part human, part superhero, part alien, part whatever, I was fully human, just born here. But I never knew my parents. Only one year was spent with them, and then they left. How did that happen? I'm going to tell you the story, that I have never shared with anyone. So just keep quiet. You won't want me to stop.

My parents were from New Jersey, in the United States of America. I don't really know exactly where, though I have sneaked into parts of the Forbidden Library when I felt like looking for them and found details. That was all I knew, and I wasn't supposed to know it. They were both scientists, who met at a research facility and fell in love. They got married two months after. Then came the big experiment that led to this mess. My parents, the lead scientists, were running the operation, so naturally, they had to take the most risks. The day crept up behind them, threatening to give them a scare. The only thing they didn't know was that the scare was going to haunt them forever. One blinding flash later, they landed in Novella, the planet in where my sorrow was based, and the place where their happy lives took a horrible turn. They stayed there for one and a half years before I was alone. They were outsiders for a few weeks, but that changed when the Novellans learned that my mother was pregnant with me. You see, Novellans get excited when they realize that there is a new being about to come to their world. On May 3rd, I was born. I was born silent. No sounds escaping my small mouth. My parents were overjoyed, and that was the day that the Novellans became scared of me. My mother strung her special necklace -which was a blend of emerald and sapphire- (my birthstones) on my tiny neck, and they named me Cameron. My parents stayed for two years, before realizing that it was time to go home. My mother brought me all the way to the device that served as a teleporter before the captain of Novella security snatched me away from her, saying that whatever was made in Novella stayed in Novella. Crying and pleading, they eventually left, their hearts broken forever.

That is my story, or all I knew of it. I hope you didn't get emotional. That would mean that I would get interrupted! You would probably hate that. Anyway, I was put into the hands of Irene,  one of the most caring Novellans that I have ever met, the others being her daughters, Rebecca and Bethany. Only a few months younger than me, they were my best friends. Notice I said were. Bex and Beth were my best friends, but since the day they turned thirteen, we had drifted apart. It wasn't their fault, mind you. They were chosen for jobs much quicker than I was, and I wasn't qualified for a job. Since I wasn't a true Novellan citizen. We still kept in touch, through Irene, who was the twins' mother and my caretaker. She stayed in her house most of the time, letting me wander and her girls go to their jobs. She was kind to me, and didn't force me to do pretty much anything, because she didn't want to change my human nature. I was glad about that.

Anyway, life on Novella was dark and bland for me, while colorful and pretty to others.  When I read this over, I just feel like I know how the brain works. How feelings change. How your life changes in an instant, and even if you try, there is no way to stop it.

One thing is for sure though. I plan on escaping Novella. Eventually. And when I decide to, nothing will stop me...
