Chapter 2: Welcome to HETALIA!-

(Kiku's POV-)

I stood there baffled and disoriented at the events that had just unraveled. I pondered on her confusing choice of speech. This wondering brought some questions to mind.

What was going on?

What was "HETALIA?"

These questions spun my mind in circles, racking my brain for answers, and rousing more questions from the back of my head. It made me nauseous. A wave of dizziness washed over me once more, and I clapped my hand over my mouth, pupils dilating, falling to my knees.

Kiwi must have noticed because the same bucket from earlier, was held out in front of me, positioned near my mouth. Not thinking twice, I grasped the bucket tightly, knuckles turning white, as I emptied my stomach's contents into the plastic bin.

When I was finished, I peered up through my bangs at Kiwi, who was holding out a napkin for me to take, smiling at me apologetically.

"Are you good now?" Kiwi asked, retracting the bucket and pouring my vomit into a nearby trashcan.

I nodded. "Yes, but how did-" I tried to question, but she cut me off, running a hand through her short, snow-white locks.

"Surprisingly, that was a completely normal reaction. I remember when we didn't use the bucket, we would have a raffle to decide on the poor, poor soul who would have to come up here and mop up the vomit." Kiwi explained, smile turning sheepish. "That's why we started using the buckets. It doubles as an agility and reflex test while being a place for people to vomit into. Though it is quite a pain to clean out." She shook her head, frowning slightly before that same smile resurfaced. Her words replayed in my mind, and I noted the use of the word "we", instead of "I."

"Hold on, what do you mean by 'we'?" I asked, not possibly comprehending what Kiwi meant. Her smile only grew wider, if it was even possible.

Sticking her hands in her pockets, Kiwi felt around until she held up a silver, gold, and navy blue badge that gleamed in the lamplight. It was engraved with the insignia of a waxing crescent with 3 aligned stars.

"That's a relief! I'd thought I lost it!" She walked over, behind the teacher's desk, and crouched down. Kiwi grinned when a small, electronic beep was emitted from somewhere behind the table. The sound of gears grinding filled the air, and I watched in amazement as some of the tiles shifted apart to reveal a stairwell leading underneath the floor. Kiwi directed her gaze to meet mine. "Director Laurasia of HETALIA." Realization hit me like a brick. No really. It actually felt like a brick was thrown at me. Specifically the head area.

"So i-it was you?! You left the note?!"

"Of course! Now I'm guessing you may want an explanation?" I nodded eagerly.

"HETALIA is a secret, government-funded association, dedicated to the public's well being. It's an institution that recruits high school students, to undergo missions for substantial pay." Kiwi explained, then continued on. "We also can't make up code names for our agents, so we just use the names of their countries of birth."

"And what does this have to do with me?" I arched an eyebrow, not exactly having a firm grasp on her reasoning for all this.

"Oh, Right! Sorry... Well, we were hoping to recruit you to join! You'd make an amazing agent, and it would be great to have you!" Her eyes twinkled hopefully. It was clearly shown that she possibly knew what I would say next without any indication.

Locking eyes with Kiwi, I gave a response. "I would be honored to be apart of HETALIA, and stand by your side." Kiwi smiled triumphantly.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" She practically dragged me down the stairs, through a dimly lit corridor, and into what I assumed was the HQ of HETALIA.

A small crowd had gathered, probably agents, murmuring amongst themselves. Well, I guess I would be curious to if my boss came in bug-eyed, grinning like a madman, holding a bucket, dragging someone behind them, and probably foaming at the mouth

"Bloody Hell... Who is it this time-...Kiku?" A British-accented voice asked.

"H-Hey, Arthur..."

Emerald met Chocolate, eyeing each other. Kiwi interrupted our little-staring contest, frowning.

"Now, I wish I could show you around, Kiku, but unfortunately I have some paperwork I need to do, that I may have been procrastinating from doing, so I can't." The agents exchanged looks that all clearly said, "why is she even director?"

Kiwi turned to the small crowd, annoyance burning in her caesious colored eyes as if she knew exactly what her subordinates were thinking. The director's glare, as I figured out later,  was infamous. It was intimidating. They had dubbed it, "The Death Glare", and was possibly one of the many reasons Kiwi was chosen for the position of power in the institution, instead of one of other eligible candidates.

"Who wants to show him around!?" Kiwi grumbled, gaze like daggers, piercing into her subordinates.

"Oh! I'll do it!" A perky voice exclaimed. Above the heads, a hand was raised high, waving wildly back and forth. Karine pushed past the crowd, ignoring their protests. She grabbed me by the arm, beaming.

"Okay, Hawk. You know what to do." The director deadpanned, looking like she would rip someone's head off if they came within a five-foot radius of her. She stomped off to her office, her footsteps as loud as thunder.

Karine grabbed me by my arm, smiling wide. "Now, let's go on that tour. And while we're at it, we should catch up! We haven't talked in awhile." I wanted to scream out in horror, wanting nothing more than to escape my, unfortunately inevitable, fate as she dragged me down a nearby hall.

I'm so sorry! I took too long to get this chapter out! This is way too overdue. Go ahead. Yell at me. Get it over with.

I've been getting to many other ideas for amazing prompts lately, so It's been a mess trying to organize and store them on my computer. And writing those prompts aren't easy to.

I may have also been listening to "Blood, Sweat and Tears" by BTS for half a week... PleaseDon'tShootMeI'llUpdateMoreOften!

Again, thanks to @KittyMagician for being a beta for this Fanfic. It's appreciated.

And can someone please give me a few ideas for future chapters? I have some planned already, both missions and filler chapters, but I didn't think of enough to extend this story to the point I want to achieve.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed!

Goodbye!
