"You probably know more about the dangers that lie ahead. So which route should we take?" Emma asked Liam as they followed the Kings' servant to where they would be staying until they had to leave for their journey. Liam put a hand on Emma's shoulder, and shook his head.

"Not in front of the servant," Liam whispered with his mouth next to Emma's ear.

"Here is your room, if you need anything I will be waiting outside. When you two are done, I will escort you back to the throne room. We have some apparel for each of you," the servant bowed and closed to wide door.

The room held two beds and a small table in between them. Female clothes were laid out on the bed on the right, while the male clothes were laid out on the bed on the left .

"So back to my question, Liam. Which route should we take?" Emma inquired with her back to Liam getting dressed.

"Well, we have two options. The long way, and the short way," Liam replied calmly. He removed his shirt, revealing his scarred back. Emma winced at the sight, as she always did.

"Which way is more safe?" Emma asked as she finished getting dressed. She glanced at Liam, now putting on the shirt the servants left them.

"If there is one thing I have learned from my adventures, it's that there is no such thing as a 'safer path', there is always going to be danger around every corner," Liam laughed as he turned to face Emma, and he soon found himself drooling.

Emma had a black blouse with long sleeves, that showed off her slender frame. The black blouse really brought out her tan skin. A black vest was over the blouse, making her seem more powerful and intimidating. She also wore black silk trousers that ended at mid-calf, showing off her leg muscles. And as his eyes finally trailed down to her feet, he saw that she had black shoes on, that shone in the candlelight. Her dark brown eyes gleamed at Liam, who was checking her out. That made her pink lips smile widely, showing off her pearl white teeth. She whipped her chocolate brown hair over her shoulder, and smirked at Liam.

"Are you done staring?" Emma said hugging herself as Liam snapped out of his daze and laughed akwardly.

Liam wore a white shirt with short sleeves to compliment his toned arms. A blue jerkin was over the white shirt. Black trousers covered Liam's lower body, and he wore black boots. His sword hung loosely at his side. His black hair hung over his ocean blue eyes, making him even more charming. He was grinning at Emma, his heart pounding from her appearance in the new clothes.

"Now who's staring Em?" Liam laughed and Emma quickly closed her gaping mouth. She walked over to Liam until they were inches from each other.

"We still have a moment to ourselves," Emma leaned into Liam's chest.

Liam wrapped his arms around his childhood friend. Each of their hearts pounded against one another. Emma looked up at Liam's eyes and she smiled sweetly. Liam leant down and pressed his lips to Emma's.

"We should get going," Liam said, pulling away, and Emma nodded slowly.

The servant keep his word and was waiting patiently outside their room. He smiled and bowed.

"I see that the clothes I have picked out for you fit well," the servant said, straightening up with a smile still on his face, "Follow me and I will take you back to the throne room."

"Father, I don't want to travel with complete strangers," Lyra said, crossing her arms over her chest. Her white hair fell down to her lower back in a single braid. Her emerald green eyes stared deeply into the King's unwavering eyes.

"It has already been decided Lyra," the King said as Liam and Emma entered the throne room," Ahh, here they are now. Lyra meet Liam Tomson and Emma Reed."

"Why were these two peasants chosen?" Lyra spat and she glared as the duo bowed down.

"They were chosen because they are the least suspecting to be traveling with a princess," the Queen stepped in, knowing the King and the Princess had a temper.

"Rise, Liam and Emma," the King said standing up, the Queen followed suit.

Liam finally got a good look at the Princess. She was wearing her nightgown still, which was a bright gold. Emma noticed her pale skin, which shone in the moonlight.

"Honey, take Lyra and get her changed. I will discuss the plan with Liam and Emma," the King said sternly. The King remained silent as the Queen took Lyra by the shoulders and led her away.

"So, have you two decided how to get Lyra out of the country?" The King asked looking at Liam.

"Yes, we will take the short route. It is more dangerous but I've encountered some of the beasts that lurk on the route," Liam said in a slightly monotone voice.

"Good!" The King boomed as he placed a hand on Liams shoulder and brought Liam closer to him and whispered, "I am placing a lot of trust in you, don't fail me."

Liam felt a sudden chill run down his spine as he replied, "I won't fail, Your Majesty."

The sudden opening of the door snapped the trio out of their discussion as Lyra and the Queen entered back into the throne room.

"Oh Daddy, I didn't know that we were in this bad of a situation," Lyra practically ran into her father's arms. Tears stained her pale cheeks as the Queen wrapped her arms around both the King and Lyra.

"Don't worry Lyra, dear, Liam and Emma will ensure your safety with their lives," the King said as tear rolled down his face, getting lost in his bushy beard.

Lyra turned her gaze towards the duo, and nodded slightly.

"We will wait in the outside when you are ready," Emma said, grabbing Liam by the arm and dragging him out of the throne room.

"What was that about Em?" Liam asked as the duo walked arm in arm down to long corridor.

"They needed to be alone. It is potentially their final goodbye and they don't need two lower class citizens staring at them," Emma said. Liam noticed a single tear rolling down her cheek.

"What's wrong?" Liam asked stopping. For a moment Emma didn't speak just stared at Liam. Suddenly, Emma lunged at Liam bringing his lips to hers as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Liam stood there shocked for a moment, then wrapped his arms around Emmas waist.

They broke the kiss and looked in each others eyes. Liam smirked at Emma as she smiled at him. The door to the throne room opened and Lyra appeared.

"I am ready," she said, walking past them with puffy eyes and she did not look at them. Emma nudged Liam and followed Lyra.

'Great, what a start to this journey!' Liam thought as he sighed and followed Lyra and Emma.

So they are about to embark on their dangerous quest! What things will they encounter? What do you think about Princess Lyra?
