This started our freshman year.. Thats actually when we met and started to build our friendship (but that's a story for another day ^×^).
He had certain looks, quirks and habits, things people would make fun of him for or do to him because of them. One of which was his hair style choice, during this time he was in a 'long hair phase' some people didn't like it, called him 'mop head' or told him to 'get a hair cut already!' However I adored it and adored him.
There were people who would say these negative things to him to make fun of him but would always find themselves trying to play with his 'mop head' running their fingers through it, pulling it, even braiding it. But he would always pull or push away and tell them no one could touch his hair.. And then there was me, I would sit on the table he stood next to or even stand next to him and fluffed his hair, ran my hands through it, petting him, whatever I felt like doing really and he'd just look at me, pointing his finger and whisper 'But you are the only exception'.

Another quirk came in the form of an accent.. An Irish accent. This had always been my favorite of them all to hear and to wish I had.. And to learn that he had one or well a good imitation of one made me adore my friend even more. Now this quirk is one he is probably the most shy about.. He picked it up from his grandparents who were both from Dublin and to whom he spent a lot of time with before he moved and went to our high school. The reason he is shy is because before he moved he found himself using it more often than just with his grandparents. It would sometimes slip out during class in school or hanging out with friends and most people would make fun of him for it.. So he stopped using it. When he moved and told his newest friends (including me) about this little quirk we all immediately wanted to hear, so he spoke. Nothing to show off how well he could do it but just enough to know that he could do it. Our friends and the few classmates that heard gave a giggle and a few confused looks or a 'what the f@ck?' And he began to get shy again and said 'well I'm never using that again..' but I told him I loved it and would like to hear it again, his response was 'You are the only exception' with the faintest hint of that accent and a small smile..

He has many talents, some in sports, academics or in personal interests. A lot of them attracting different kinds of people, one that attracted the most people was dancing. Yes he could and can still dance, slow dance, salsa dance, break dance and even some I don't know the name of. It wasn't exactly a hidden talent because he did it in little bits almost every day. He enjoyed it and I enjoyed watching him, I even made videos of him and told him every now and then to 'dance for me?' To which he'd smile and show me the newest thing he's learned or something he discovered. As the year went on more and more people started to take notice of his talent.. it made the girls squeal and the boys impressed. Both groups would see him dance from time to time and ask him to do it for them and he'd say 'sorry dude not now' or of it were a complete stranger just plain 'no'. One day that this had happened while we were walking at lunch and after the person walked away I asked 'How come you dance whenever I ask you to?' And to which he responded smiling and leaned down toward me 'Because you are the only exception'.
