"Hi... I'm Chase... Chase Knoll." Raising his specs a bit, the new student introduced himself in front of the class. He was transferred to his brother's school to ensure that his younger brother would definitely make it to college.
"Pleased to meet you Mr. Knoll, you may take the available seat next to Ms. Owen." The teacher then started the class. It was a Physics class and nobody seemed to be interested at all. Chase, struggling not to look on his fellow students, sat next to his new classmate, fidgeting.
He never really wanted to transfer school. In his old school, introduction is not necessary since he is a straight top 1 rank of his batch. All students know about him and he's the most famous ugly-with-the-spec guy in that campus. But things changed when his brother had two consecutive years of failing grades.
He was supposed to be a college student by now, taking up his most wanted medicine degree, but no. Instead, he settled to be on his brother's class to help him cope up with the lessons. He re-enrolled the other subjects for third year and that really sounded awful for such a genius like him.
Their family was forced to move to a new town, about five miles away from their original home. Imagining it that way makes Chase feel really unhappy. His friends were out there and now, because his father was destined to another place, they all have to move to start anew for his younger brother as well.
Physics was the only subject that both brothers don't share. But for the rest of the class, they have the same schedule and professors. Chase didn't really understood what the teacher has been bubbling for hours but because he is a straight A student, he didn't really have to listen at all. He knew every lesson in Physics, strange but true. No one knows why he literally excels in this field. He even asked his parents about it but they answered him nothing. He is an honest man and he doesn't know why some traits about him really make him shudder at times.
"Hi, I'm Mystique Owen. And you are?" asked politely by the simple yet very intimidating girl beside him. He looked uneasy at first.
Why a girl this beautiful would want to know my name after all?
"I...I'm Chase Knoll, nice to meet you." He said reluctantly. He never had the chance like this in his old school. Many of the students there don't really like him because of his physical features. He doesn't know what to speak afterwards and it became very anxious having a dead air conversation.
He looked again at the girl sitting next to him. She was smiling a perfect smile. Her hair is long silky black that compliments her white albino skin. Her eyes are charcoal black and he must admit that it does make her a bit appealing more than the others who have ordinary brown or blue eyes. The contour of her nose, he never even had seen such perfection in his life. Her lips are pink without any help from cosmetics and her cheekbones are pinkish as well. But he noticed something unusual about this girl, whom he forgot the name.
"Are you really 16 years old?" he muttered unthinkingly. He regretted it at first but he was startled when the lady silently laughed beside him. Mystique angled a bit to face him.
"How about you? You don't look like 16 years old either." Then she flashed that beautiful smile again. Chase looked at the table in front of him, hiding the blush from the stranger.
"I repeated the third year lessons to help my brother." He peeked at the lady for some time and noticed that she was somehow skeptical. Was it something he said?
"Oh, I see." Mystique then faced the front and listened to the rest of the class. Chase didn't know what he had said that made Mystique became uninterested. Though he wanted to say goodbye when the class was done, he was too late. Mystique had rushed out of the door leaving Chase dumbfounded.
