A bright flash of light shines through my closed eyelids, forcing them to flutter open.  Picking up my phone hesitantly, I insert the password and squint my eyes as I try to read the message I received: Hey, look out of  your window

Was he crazy? There he stood, waving at me with a gleeful look upon his face, like this wasn't weird at all. I checked the time and saw it just turned 1 am. Quickly, I fling on the first decent outfit my hands lay upon and hastily run down the stairs. Turning the cold metal key in the door, I open the door and feel a dense wall of biting, bleak air surround my body and pierce into my revealed skin.

As soon as goosebumps emerge from my skin, I feel a fleecy and warm jacket wrap around me. Glancing up to meet his eyes, I sleepily mumble a thank you as I nestle into the woolly jacket. "Why are you here?" I say abruptly. He looks slightly taken aback as he replies "Am I an unwanted visitor here?" I laugh quietly and tell him "Just answer me."

Gesturing to the surprisingly tranquil city landscape under the twinkling blanket of stars, he says "I want to just spend the last night in this city with you. The late hours are so calming, it's...it's as if.."

"Time has paused" I continue his stream of thoughts.  He beams at my answer which perfectly describes the atmosphere we were in

He encircles his hand around my wrist and guides me down the still streets. Signs of shops were lit up but everything was shut, like a secret waiting to be delved into. It was just us around here. The only ones.

He stops suddenly and smirks at me. I look at him questioningly until he points to the closed park gates in front of us. I could tell what he was suggesting. I whisper "Are we actually going to break into the park? Nodding he gestures to his open hands where I place my foot as he pushes me upwards. I grab onto the top of the wall and shift myself onto it. Leaning towards him, I hold out my hands for him as he reaches for them and pulls himself up. He leans into me closely on the top of the wall causing me to nearly fall backwards off the wall. A gasp escapes my lips as he latches onto my back and pulls me back up."Careful...come on let's jump off" he orders me and we jump down from the wall.

My hands hit the dewy grass, cushioning the jump. I wipe them on my jeans and straighten myself up. Water flowing and gushing in a fountain could be heard from the midst of almost hypnotic background noise of the wind causing the leaves in the trees to susurrate.

I intertwine my fingers with his while we walk further into the park. The dim streetlights glow softly above us and the gravel crunches beneath us. We arrive at a field of lush grass when he stops to take out something from his bag. He unfolds a picnic blanket and lays it down. I sit down and he places a red velvet cake and wine bottle in front of us. I smile gleefully and say "Wow, what a nice surprise! Thank youu" I lean towards him, pouting slightly and my eyelashes fluttering. He couldn't help but grin and laugh at how cute I was acting.  He leans towards me and cups my face in his hands. His lips press against mine softly, my body warms and my senses heighten as I melt into the kiss. In that moment, time truly paused. A moment that's fleeting in the physical plane yet everlasting in the mind. Night falls and time pauses.
