Ana's p.o.v
I'm your average teenager, or was your average teen. I never asked for this to happened, no one was expecting this to happen. Before shit hit the fan, I went school, had a crush on one of the dreamiest boys in school, with a lots of friends
And getting a's and b's in all classes and suddenly BOOM! All hell broke lose, you lost everyone and everything that you loved is now gone. It's only you, yourself, and I and you better believe that shit, because this is the real world now. Ever since the Silvers, these half metal and half human, Silvers can't see or smell but sure can eat hella good, God ugly fuckers running streets. Their body sagged as they limp, when they look at you with lifeless eyes. I grabbed my guns reloading each one, knowing that I'll be on the move soon.
"Emerson, hun do you have your kit ready?" I called out grabbing his attention, the five year old boy I found him an abandoned corner store crying out for mother to wake up. From then on I took care of him. "Anna, I'm ready" Emerson called back running towards me with open arms wanting me to pick him up, I swiftly picked him up caring him to the truck, putting him into his car seat, as I got into the other side of the truck. Starting the car. Heading towards danger.
.....
"Anna, look!" Emerson pointed to the sky, I glance at the sky seeing it's a yellowish green a sicking color, 'acid' I thought, I have a good week to get what we need and out before abiding rain comes pouring down. Killing us both, I shook my head at that thought. 'No way in hell would I let that happen' I thought, "Anna " Emerson snapped me out thoughts, I hummed in response. "Don't you like the sky?" Emerson asked with a bright smile, "sweetheart remember what Anna told you about the green sky?" I asked him, glancing at him. Emerson thought hard about it, "it means, um, a bad thing for us?"Emerson said more than a question than a statement. I chuckled, and nodded "that's right, and what happens to people when they are in the bad rain?" I asked. "They die!" Emerson clapped his hands together excited about his answer, I laughed " "that's right" I laughed.
I hated doing this to Emerson I shouldn't be forcing him to act matcher for his age, he was only five, he should be running around getting dirty and coloring. I hated doing this to the poor kid. But it's the only way to protect him from this hell hole. Knowing that everything he learned about the past changes the fact that this a whole different world.
.....
I parked the car a block away, knowing that Silvers that can hear everything, luckily they can't see anything they go by hearing. I looked over at Emerson as he stared back at me, I faked a smile. "Are you ready?" I asked his face paled a little as he shook his head, Emerson opened his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "We'll be in and out I promise." I reached over and held out my pinkie, Emerson looked down at my promise I made and looked at me. "Promise?" Emerson said, I smiled "promise". We hooked are pinkies together and made our way out of the truck.
....
I kept Emerson behind me, putting me on full guard I stopped every good 5 minutes, looking for Slivers. As I continued to watch for Slivers. As we made our way into Target, seeing to Silvers, I froze. 'Breathe Anna just breathe' I let out a sigh and closed my eyes, and I took off the safe lock and I swiftly shoot the other side of the room hitting a vase, as the two Slivers drooled, they're sag side to side as they limp towards the broken vase,as their bodies grind with metal against each other making a sicking sounds.
I grabbing Emerson's hand as I jogged towards the cloths, I looked around not seeing any Slivers in sight, I felt a tug on my shirt I looked down at Emerson, "can we get coloring books?" Emerson whisper as if he was shy. I looked up and till seeing nothing in sight and looked back down at Emerson with his big brown eyes, pulling off the puppy face, I sighed and crouch down at Emerson's height.
"I'll see what I can do" I answer in a quiet tone, and ruffled his hair. Knowing that I should be using batteries for other stuff, but this the only way for him to escape. I held Emerson's hand, putting his safety at risk, as we quickly walk through the clothes. Spotting a pack of water bottles, I swallowed hard, as my eyes forces on the water. After the Silvers came, there was little power, and water was being taken as screams and cries mixed together, wanting to live, to survive.
As Slivers ripped apart wanting blood just remembering makes me cringe. "Anna, look" Emerson whispered as he tugged on my shirt pointing over as Emerson cling to me and looked over seeing slivers.
