I still remember the day you told me you were leavin',

The wetness on my cheeks as I hugged you goodbye.

The pain in my chest as I lay there grievin',

Disbelieving the ugly thought that you left me here to cry.

The feeling of despair when you told me that someone else was there,

When all I wanted was to be able to call you mine.

Your empty words still haunt me as if I'm living the nightmare,

If what we had was real, how could you be fine?

Every night I lay awake, wondering what I did wrong,

Why pull me in, just to push me out?

Although I should hate him, he's my #1 song,

My favourite line: "I will always love you, do not doubt".

Years on from now, I'll probably move on,

Have a good job and meet someone new.

And when I think of him, I'll smile upon,

Keeping in mind to learn from past mistakes, through and through.
