"Are you her spouse?" the nurse asks him. He shakes his head. "Then I'm afraid I'm going to ask you to wait out here."
His hand around her shoulder tightens, but he lets her go into the back alone with the nurse.
They check her vitals and then she waits for the doctor. When he arrives, he gives her a rundown on how the procedure will go. After listening to him, she can't help but burst into tears. The doctor looks appalled, then calls the nurse back in. She cries into the older woman's arms.
"I don't want to do this," she sobs quietly, "I don't want to. I want to keep my baby."
"Then you can," the nurse soothes, rubbing circles on her back.
"I have to," she whimpers, "He's going to make me."
"Who honey?"
"My boyfriend, Kai."
