Alexandra's POV
"We-I've been looking for you," I told the boy. We were in the library at a table where Philip sat. Gemm had said that she has seen him go in here after school most of the time. I also realized that I have 3 classes with him!

We had only been there a moment when Philip looked up. We expected that he would be studying but instead he was just staring off into space. Weird. I shrugged it off and we approached him.

"Who are you anyway," he asked. "I mean, you've been watching me walk out of my house and know my name, and I still don't know yours."

"Well, I'm Gemm, that's John, Henry, and Alexandra." She pointed to each one of us when she announced our names. I could see Philip's eyes grow wide. I stared at the ground, avoiding eye-contact with the curious boy.

"D-did you say, Alexandra?" He was just full of questions! I slowly nodded, still keeping my eyes on the carpeted floors. I braced myself for the question that I knew was coming, and almost fainted when I heard him say it. "What's your last name?"

"Burr," I mumbled quietly. I was too scared to look up and see a face full of horror and hatred that I was too used to.

Gemm wrapped an arm around my shoulders and whispered, "We'll be out front if you need us, kay?" I glanced up and nodded as her as she squeezed me, silently telling me that everything will be okay.

Once they left, there was an awkward silence as I still refused to gaze up to Philip's face. Finally he decided to break the silence.

"So," he began,"you okay?" I nodded and held my arms with my hands. "Cause you sure don't look like it." He stated. I nervously bit my lip. He got up and walked over to me. His hand went under my chin and lifted my face so I was forced to look at him. His face was concerned and kind and... Worried. "Hey," he said as he put his arm on my shoulder. "I'm not mad at you, it isn't your fault." By it he meant my father shooting his dad between the ribs. The reason I have been tormented my whole life. The reason why no one would ever talk to me. The reason why I was hated. "And I'm sure he had a reason; people don't just do that out of the blue."

I was shocked. My eyes widened as he comforts me. He started to-...

Hug me.

How could he forgive my father? Why is he being so nice? Is this normal? These thoughts ran through my mind as I awkwardly hug back.

Once we broke away he picked up his messenger bag and walked passed me. He stopped a couple of feet from the door.

"You coming?" He asked. I hesitantly nodded. Maybe this won't be so bad...
