Nina's P.O.V.
"Nina are you almost done packing!?" My mother yells from the downstairs living room in her sweet voice.
"Almost mom!" I yelled back at her for what felt like the millionth time.
Today is my first day of college. New people to meet and no familiar faces. Sure I'll make some later in the future but right now, my only three friends are just me, myself and I. I only wish my boyfriend Matthew could be here to experience this with me. But he is a year younger than me. He's a senior in High School and we've been together for 2 years, but we've known each other for my entire life. He's the love of my life and I can't wait for him to come to this college and we can finally live our dreams. He can't come with my mother and I to drop me off because he is out of town with his family. He said that he'd give me a call sometime later in the day to see when he can visit.
I hear the sound of my mothers high heels clacking on the hardwood floors on the stairs. Little more steps and she's right in my door frame. Wearing a red button down blouse with a long pencil skirt.
"Are you done? I don't want you being late on your first day?" She asks in a rude tone.
"Yes mom." I growl at her.
My mother always expects the best out of me. She is a surgeon so she is always expects perfection. I always have to dress at my best because you never know when you have to go meet somebody important or go somewhere fancy. Mostly all of my clothes are pencil skirts, blouses, and blazers. Maybe some nice dresses here and there, but mostly professional clothing. That's how my life has been for 18 years. Every step I made, was all controlled by my prefect mother. That's why I wanted to enroll in a university, to get away from her. But even though Chicago is still one of the biggest cities in the world, she still wouldn't give me little personal space. She told me she would call me at least 2 times a day if she didn't have a busy schedule.
"If your father was here, he would be so proud of you honey." My mom says while moving a piece of hair from my face and tucking it behind my ear. She finished her sentence with a nice warm hug.
My father passed away when I was 2 years old. I don't really remember him, but I did see a lot of pictures of him holding me. My father, Steve passed away from a car crash. He was driving on the highway and a drunk truck driver hit his car and knocked him off the highway. All the timing was wrong for him and I just wish he could be here for moral support.
"Get dresses and we'll be on our way." She said while patting my shoulder encouraging me to get moving.
She leaves the room and shuts the door behind her to give me privacy to change. I grab the clothes that I set on my bed for me to wear on this really special day. I put on a light purple blouse with a peach pencil skirt and a white blazer. See what I mean. Professional clothing. I put on hardly any blush and settle with maybe 2 strokes of mascara. My mother believes that too much makeup doesn't make you look attractive. So I just settle whatever she thinks is right.
I start grabbing my suitcase and start heading out my bedroom door. I don't bother on looking back and start thinking about all the good times I've had in this place because I know I'll be back soon to visit.
"That's what your going to wear on your first day?" My mother ask in that same rude tone as before.
"Whatever we're already late on schedule, now let's go." She says while guiding me out the door.
I go to the back of her nice black BMW and open the trunk. I put my suitcase in there and slammed the trunk. I get into the passenger seat and we're headed of to my school.
The ride to my school is only 2 hours away. Plenty of time plan out what I'm gonna do today. I grab my planner and start to plan things out. First, I'll go to the main office and start registering for my classes and get my room key. Second, I'll go to my dorm, have small talk with my roommate and get to my first class.
