Dear Mom,

I am finally free. I have been waiting for this since you passed away. I don't think I could have survived dad's torture one more day. Now the question is survival.. They say the one to survive is the fittest of all...... Am I fit enough?

~ Alexandria

Some time ago

I could hear the leaves crunching under my feet as I walked in the forest. Looking back I couldn't even see my father's big mansion. Which was good because it meant I wouldn't have a chance to change my mind.

The only thing that was on my mind right now was that I got away. I should have been thinking about where I am going to go? How I am going to survive? And does my dad even care I left?

Probably not, He never really cared about me after mom's death. Thinking back to my childhood, I remember always being with my mom never really spending with dad on the other hand Aubrey was always with dad. I guess that's why they get along and we don't.

I have been walking in the forest for the last 5 hours, and I could see the road from where I was. I guess my legs had a brain of their own as they started towards the road. Once my foot touched the road, I gave one glance back and whispered a small bye.

Woshhh,I watched as cars drove past me. How does all these car drive next to each other without crashing?!?! Looking around me, I take everything in with big eyes, I have never seen the world outside my house.

Walking on the side of the road I start to think where I could stay... I never thought about this before running. I mean I don't anyone other than my dad, sister, and my dads men. I have zero connection to the outside world....

Lost into my thoughts, I bump into someone and fall. Looking up I see a short girl who is way too skinny. She has ripped clothes and she looks like she hasn't showered in a long time.

"Sorry" her breath hit me..........or brushed her teeth in a long time. "It's ok, I was lost in my thoughts it was my fault anyways." I smile. "Sana" she puts her hand out, I take it and she pulls me up. "Alexandria, but I go by Alex" I introduce myself.

"Alex, Hmmm cute name, anyways, I haven't seen you here before, are you new?" She questions, "Umm I am?" I answer but the answer sounds more like a question. She stares at me and then announces, "You are lying." "Huh" I say confused.

"I can tell when people are lying, and you are like a open book." She shrugs and continues, "So tell me what's your real story?" "I ran away from my home" I confess. She just looks at me, I guess wanting me to continue, but I don't know what else to say, so I just keep quiet. When I don't any say anything she asks "Do you have a place to stay?" "No" I muttered embarrassed. "Come on then." She says and then starts walking and I follow behind.

After walking and getting fascinated by every little thing, Sana led me into an alley with couple of other people. I took in their appearance and to my surprise they looked a lot like sana. They all had tears in their clothes and their hair was all out of place. They looked like they haven't showered for a while and they looked hungry?

"This is where I live" Sana grinned spreading her hands wide like they do in movies. I grinned and said "It's cute." Sana's face brightened up and she asked "really?" "Yea, I mean you seem so happy claiming it your home, and if anything makes someone happy then it's always good!" I shrugged. Her face turned into an expression I couldn't recognize. "I like you Alex" She finally said and I grinned.

All of the sudden, I hear a car zoom by, and I turn to look in it's direction. My forehead creased Why was there a car in such deserted land where there are no other cars?! "Who was that?" I turned and asked Sana. "Rich man, comes and goes every once in awhile, brings us food and clothes." She smiled thinking about it. "Oh" just the thought of the man made me smile. I want to meet him one day and tell him how great of a guy he is!

"Alex" Sana snapped her fingers in front of my face. "Huh" I blinked, "You alright there" she asked, "Yea I am fine" I smiled. "Anyways let me tell you a bit about myself.." She said while sitting down on the floor and I followed. "I am 19 and I have been homeless for as long as I can remember. This is a rich town so no one gives any attention to us homeless. My mom and dad died when I was little, and I found this humble abode.... I grew up here watching the rich throw dirty looks at us, the middle class not even sparing us a glance, the poor feeling bad, and the homeless glaring at the food we ate."

She continued, "When I first came here I was a very stuck up bi*th. I had came from a rich household, got everything I wanted, always had new clothes, never had to worry about food, no tension at all. But after staying in this alley for two weeks I realized, I am not going to always get what I want. I lost tons of weight in the first few months since there was no food to eat. I learned to steal, to hide, and to eat from trashcans." I cringed at that and Sana saw me and chuckled "Yep Welcome to the real world"

"The guy in the car, whose name I still don't know, started coming here about 10 years ago. He was little back then, not like any of us ever saw him. He was a teenager, but still had one of the biggest hearts. In the beginning he came here every week and would give us food and clothes, but as months and years passed he started coming less and less. Now 10 years later he comes around once a month, but when he comes he brings a huge supply of food for us and a set of clothes for each of us."

"You said you never saw him.. How? And what about the food today where is that?" I asked lost. "Yea he never gets off the car, his driver always comes and gives us the supplies. Rich fellow probably doesn't want anyone to know he is helping the homeless. And now whenever he comes Stacey, the oldest of us all, goes and collects it and puts it in our 'storage' so we can go get it when we need it!" She explained. "Alright, I think we should sleep it's late anyways." She said. "Alright"

She went and got two shirts that had rips and tears in them and folded them up and made them our pillows. "Good Night Alex, I am so glad I met you" Sana said. "Good Night Sana, I am glad too, I am glad too" I return her saying and lie down. But as I close my eyes all I can think about is two things. How am I going to survive and the rich mystery guy.
