Pep rallies reveal secrets.
"May I have Dante Steppeson escorted to the pep rally early?" The lady who came from the intercom system asked.
After nonstop gameplay of hamster ball and lots of begging I finally got to go to my first pep rally! Of course, there had to be rules set in and unfortunately I had to conform with the rules.
"He's on his way," my sixth period, Darren replied. "See you in a bit Dante."
I smiled at Darren before getting up from my chair, "same to you sir." I said to him before walking out of the classroom. These privileges I'm granted are really making me more happy on the inside. The fact I get to leave around fifteen minutes early is just joyful. Classes were already shortened due to the pep rally, for me they are just as shorter.
As I walked my way over to the elevator a familiar face came around the corner. "Dante, what's up." Kyle, the boy who knocked me on my ass the first day of school said. I've still haven't told my parents about said incident otherwise my overprotective parents would take me out of school the first day. Remember what happened just yesterday with the whole falling event? They ultimately despise me falling down.
"Nothing much Kyle, you going to the pep rally early too?"
"Oh god no, I don't like pep rallies. I'm heading home actually. You have a better chance enjoying yourself in the school's bathroom than that boring pep rally."
A chuckle escaped my lips, "well, see you around then." I said. Something deep inside told me he was actually lying. Allan did say Kyle had a lot of personal issues back at home. I can't help but sympathize for the poor guy.
The two of us went around each other and went down our paths. Now I was standing in front of the elevator by myself waiting for the doors to grant me entrance. About ten seconds would pass when the doors finally opened. I walked inside the elevator and pressed the button. "I wonder where the freshmen sit."
The elevators door closed and I closed my eyes as the giant box slowly moved down toward the first floor. I fantasized about me being able to one day walk without my crutches. Every so often when I am alone I tend to do this. How running would be so much easier, playing numerous sports, and being able to jump off the ground.
The elevator bell ringed indicating it has stopped. "There goes my few seconds of happiness."
Eventually, I made my way over to the pep rally. There was already a few students sitting on the bleachers chatting with one another. I presume they already had this gym class so that's no surprise there. Some of the students waved at me as I made my way over to the freshmen section. Just like mum said, I had to sit on the first row.
It wouldn't be long till announcements started dismissing other classes and soon the whole student body. The once nearly empty gym was now filled with a sea of students. Gregory and Chandler did manage to find me surprisingly and they sat down with me. Tons of teachers stood in front of us yelling at the top of their lungs around the gym.
Once the gym was settled down the pep rally had begun. Dozens of cheerleaders filled the floors of the gym along with a few boys painted in all sorts of color. The pep rally was scheduled to be around two hours so I hope entertainment will be present.
During the constant screaming and yelling I noticed that one of those painted boys was the jock whole stole my crutch. "I really hope he doesn't see me. He may embarass me in front of everyone!" Hmm, hiding behind a few students wouldn't be such a bad idea. Dare I ask the very tall hefty guy sitting behind me for coverage? Nah, I'd move way too slow. Whether I'm moving or not, I stick out like a sore thumb.
