I walked over to my suitcase to plan what I was going to wear today. I wanted something cute but comfy. I wandered through all the clothing I brought, and chose a pastel pink, crew neck sweater with light blue skinny jeans. As I was gathering my things, Moa walked out of the bathroom. She was wearing a zip up, fluffy, brown jacket, made to look like Rilakkuma, and black skinny jeans. He hair was pulled into loose pigtails that rested on her shoulders.
"You look very cute today" I said, flashing a quick smirk.
"I've been waiting for a day to finally wear this jacket, it's one of my favorites" She said, squishing her cheeks together. I walked passed her and entered the bathroom. I decided that I should shower. As I entered the shower, I heard the door to our room open. I couldn't just walk out there and check, so I prayed that it was Su that I heard. I showered quickly. I hopped out of the shower, quickly got ready, and put my hair up in a towel. I didn't think we had to go anywhere today right away. I walked out and stuffed all my toiletries back into my bag. Su and Moa were sitting with each other, fumbling with some sort of medical device. I went and sat by them."Maybe you shouldn't mess with it," I said, "You wouldn't wanna break it." They looked at each other, and Su flashed a look that said, "she's probably right". Then, we heard a knock at the door. Su got up to check, and peered through the eyehole.
"It's Yuka" She exclaimed. Yuka is our standby nurse. She usually just makes sure that we're hydrated and given the right nutrients or diet, but she could do most things a normal nurse could do, so we all knew why she was actually here. I got up to give her a spot to sit as she walked in.
"Thank you," she said, "Alright, this is gonna be just like you're at the doctor's office, except this is all you're doing, okay?" She asked, smiling at Moa.
"Okay." Moa said. Yuka nodded at Moa, and started working with the machine, telling us about it.
"This thing is called a sphygmomanometer, or a blood pressure reader, but you don't really need to know that." That made us all giggle a little bit. She knew that there was pressure to be relieved in the room. She wrapped the band around Moa's arm, and started pumping air into it. After a few pumps, she stopped, and wrote down some numbers that made no sense to me.
"Alright, your blood pressure right now is stable. You may feel lightheaded after standing up, or standing for a long time, but don't be afraid to tell someone if something doesn't feel right okay?"
"Will do." Moa said, with a reassuring nod.
"Now, have you girls gotten anything to eat?" Yuka asked. We all looked at each other, then shook our heads, we haven't eaten anything this morning, we were all still getting ready, basically.
Su answered, "I haven't had much, only a few grapes. I don't think these two have had anything yet, but they didn't get up long ago.""Alright," Yuka said, "you guys finish quickly, then go eat. Make sure to drink water too."
"We will, Yuka" Moa and I said in unison, then giggled.
"Good, I'll see you girls later" She said, and smiled at us. She waved then left the room.
"There's always a motherly sense you feel when she's by us, you guys agree?" Su asked."Yes, and I adore it" I said, without any hesitation.
"Yeah, she's always so kind, and caring." Moa chirped in. A little time passed. I was still standing close to the door, Su had walked over and sat on her bed, Moa was checking her phone at the table.
"Well, I'm hungry, you guys?" Su asked. Moa and I glanced at each other, and nodded. "Well, anything you guys want in particular?""Anything that isn't fast food is fine with me." I said.
"Same" Moa said, "I'm tired of McDonald's for breakfast."
"At least you don't have it all the time," Su exclaimed, "or you'd be this big." Su said, as she pretended to walk like a big sumo wrestler. That made us all laugh out loud. We all needed a good laugh.
"Alright, we'll I'll call some people and see if we can go to a good restaurant for brunch maybe?"
"Sounds good to me." I said, I really was starving. We waited outside with our tour manager for our ride. A small, black car with tinted windows appeared. Typical way of transportation for us now. Moa, Su, and I all crammed in the back. Su sat in between Moa and I. She played around on her phone. Moa, who was still a little shaken from her first blood pressure reading outside of a hospital, had her head rested against the door, eyes closed. I just stared out the window, watching every building and person we passed by. I always enjoyed admiring how meticulously buildings were created. Sometimes I couldn't even see the tops of the buildings because they were so tall. Our tour manager hadn't told us where we were going, so I decided to ask.
"Hey, uh, where are we going to eat?" I asked
"We found a cute little cafe you guys might like" He answered. I could see him smirk a little in the mirror. I'm not exactly sure what he meant by that, but I'm sure it had good intentions.
We drove around for about 15 minutes longer, before pulling into a parking garage.
"We have to walk from here" Informed our tour manager. We all nodded and got out of the car. Moa and I held hands as we walked through the dark garage, listening to our footsteps echo with every step. Su walked close to us. We followed our manager till we reached a cute little cafe. The color scheme was pastel blue, white and bright red. A very modern place. Us three sat at a small, tall, round table, surrounded by white swivel stools. Our manager asked what we wanted so he could translate. I ordered waffles with strawberries and orange juice. Su ordered pancakes with syrup and bacon, with an apple juice. Moa ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and an iced tea. While we waited for our food, our manager had an announcement to make.
"Well, a new tour manager will be taking over from here. I was told that I was gonna be here the whole tour, then go with a different group, but the dates wouldn't work out, so they got another manager for you guys."
"When will we meet him?" I asked
"Well, not him, but she will be at the next venue. Her name is Ana Ichihara. She's worked with various groups before, so you'll be in good hands. Plus, she's fluent in English and Japanese."
"Sounds good," Moa said, "I'm excited to meet her. We've never been managed by a girl before." As Moa said that, our food finally arrived. We were all super hungry, so it was super quiet as we chowed down on our food. Moa and I shared each others' food, we were given much more than we thought we would get.
I finished eating my food with a last gulp of orange juice, and patted my mouth dry with a napkin. I looked up and noticed Su had stopped eating, but her plate wasn't empty. She had it pushed away and she was looking at her phone.
"Su, are you gonna finish? Do you want a box?" I asked Su.
"What? Oh, yeah sure." She answered, barely making eye contact. She seemed kinda upset again.
"Well I'm stuffed" Moa said, while rubbing her belly
"Same" I said
"Well should we get going?" Our now former tour manager said. We all looked at each other and nodded. Right as we walked through the door to leave, I noticed that Su had left her breakfast on the table.
Something is definitely up with her... I thought, but as we left, she put a smile back on her face as we walked to the car.
She turned around and asked, "don't you love how cold it is here?" That made both Moa and me laugh. It was cold but we could manage with our sweaters.
I felt something grab my side. Moa had her hand on my waist and pulled me closer to her. Maybe she couldn't just manage in a sweater. I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her closer. We walked like this till we made it to the car. Su sat in between us again. We all cuddled close to each other to stay warmer, but Moa and I held hands, which made me even warmer.
