Felix.
I train the new boys on the island how to make weapons and safely use them. They really enjoy it, but it does get exhausting after a bit.
I stare at the dirty faces of these little boys... until I spot a much more beautiful face.
Amelia's eyes meet mine as she walks toward me, her pace quickening.
I put down my bow and signal for the boys to stop what they are doing momentarily.
My feet are quick to meet the beautiful girl who has been consuming my mind daily.
I smile as we come face to face.
"Hey," I greet her.
She smiles, a bit of nervousness behind her expression,"Hey. Pan said training is done for the night. Wanna take a walk?"
I nod and wave for the boys to leave.
As they scatter, I nod towards the path to the shore.
Amelia and I have a spot along the shore. It is on top of a steady boulder that overlooks the ocean. We store little treasures in the miniature cave below our spot.
She begins to walk, hands shaking slightly.
I take her hand and intertwine our fingers.
"Are you alright?" I ask, putting aside my tough-guy image to talk to her... she sees right through it anyway, so why bother pretending?
She nods and swallows hard, walking in silence.
As we approach our rock, I smile at the sky,"Pretty sunset, huh?"
She half smiles and nods,"Yeah. Gorgeous."
I climb onto our boulder and pull Amelia up with me.
She and I sit close to each other, my arm wrapped around her shoulders.
We sit in silence while Amelia ponders something and I sit curiously.
After a few minutes of our unbearable period of no speaking, I look at her seriously.
"Amelia?"
"Yeah?" She answers quickly, shaking out of her thoughts.
I raise an eyebrow, "What's going on with you?"
She sighs and shakes my arm off, turning her body to face me.
My face softens a bit.
She clears her throat and takes a deep breath,"Felix... I came on this island with a guy who didn't really care about me and loved someone else. My whole life I wondered the same thing...
"'Will anyone ever love me?' Between my unfortunate past and my previously dull future... I didn't understand love and never thought I would feel it for another person... I guess what I'm trying to say is after a life lived in the dark, I found light... I found you. Felix I-"
I cut her off by placing my lips to hers. She kisses back, smiling slightly as our lips move in sync.
I pull away with a smirk,"I love you too, Amelia. As scared as I am to say that... I don't think I can run from it."
Amelia chuckles and runs her finger down my jaw, "Don't be scared. I am here and I love you."
