Erin POV

I was getting kind of bored just sitting there. Suddenly, I saw Erik jump. "Erin! We have to get you away from here NOW!" I gave him a blank look. "Why?" "Because you're going to shift in half an hour, and I'm thinking you don't want your neighbors to hear that." "Hear what?" He looked at me like I was crazy. "Ask your wolf." *Well?* 'He means your screams of agony as your bones break and you change into a wolf.' *WHAT!?* No answer. I guessed she had given up on trying to explain things to me. "Well, she wasn't very nice about it, but I guess I'd rather not have my neighbors hear my screams of agony." "Is that really how she put it?" "Yeah." He looked shocked. "Wow. They usually don't get straight to the point like that. I'm surprised."

Twenty minutes later, I was standing in the middle of a clearing in the middle of a forest. I hadn't let anyone except Erik come with me because I didn't want them to see my agony, but I wanted SOMEONE to come with me.

My thoughts were broken by one of my bones snapping. I was starting to shift.

Ten minutes of agony and horrible screams later, I was looking at reflection in a pond that I hadn't noticed before. My wolf was dark brown with black points. Points being my ears, my paws, my snout, and the tip of my tail. I still had my green eyes.

After a while, Erik shifted too. But, since he had been doing it for two years longer than me, it wasn't even painful for him. It was also a LOT faster. His wolf was the same as mine, but the colors were opposite. His fur was black, while his points were dark brown.

We decided to go back home while we were still wolves, because clothes don't make it when you shift, and I'd rather not be naked in front of my best friend, a stranger, and the brother I didn't know existed before today.
