We didn't finish the project at home, so I invited Luke over at my house to finish it up. He steps through the door and eyes the place. "Your home's really nice."

"Thanks. But it's not as much as the others." I smile weakly. Most kids at our school are spoiled rich, including my friend group.

Including Luke.

"No I really mean it. My house is so big, it gets lonely on there sometimes. You know, with me being an only child and all."

I nod.

I lead him up to my room, which is kind of messy because I ransacked it trying to find my life savings. I was saving up to buy a car and the extra for college, but I wanted to help my mom pay for Dad's surgery.

"Wow that's a lot of money." Luke remarks.

"Yeah."

"What are you gonna spend it on?"

"Nothing, just counting it up." I lied.

"How much?"

"Three hundred and sixty five."

"That's a lot."

"But not enough." I whisper.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing."

After a pause of awkward silence I suggest, "do you want to get started?"

"Sure."

We work in silence for most of the time. I get bored and turn to ask him a question. "Luke, what are you being for Halloween?"

"I don't know yet, maybe a knight, or some basketball player."

"cool."

"What are you being?"

"I'm being a Gothic princess. Its kind of a duo with Lori, she's being a Renaissance princess."

"Cool."

I nod, smiling like an idiot.

Suddenly a sharp sound splinter the quietness of the room.

"What was that?" I ask.

"I don't know."

I look around, searching for the source of the sound.

Nothing.

"look!" Luke says, pointing to something. I travel my gaze where his finger is and I see it. A book had fallen of my mini shelf on the wall.

"How did that fall of?" I wonder.

"Gravity." He gives me a pointed look.

I rolled my eyes, "I haven't touched that book in ages. It has been sitting on that shelf for a year or so, without falling!"

"That's weird."

"Ye huh."

"Whatever, let's forget about it."

I nod, but I can't shake that tingly feeling off. "So we should put that here. It makes the poster look better? Right?" I say, trying to busy myself in our poster.

"Yes. Maybe we should also add more about Shakespeare. I don't think there is enough."

"yeah you're right."

Thwack!

There it is again. I turn sharply in my chair, and see another book fallen down on the floor. "This is not a coincidence Luke!" I get up. The hairs on the back of my neck stoop up. I go over the bed, and pick up the two books placing them back on the shelf. "They won't fall right?" I search Luke's eyes for assurance, but don't find anything.
