As I stared at the passing trees through the window of my aunt's car, I thought back to the close call I had with a panic attack on the plane. It was descending, and, still hazy from waking up from a nap, I could only notice the endless miles of forest beneath us. thinking the plane was crashing, I almost started screaming, until I noticed a lonesome runway connected to a small airport.

Retreating from my thoughts of my imaginary near death experience, the car pulled up to a medium sized cottage that looked like it came straight out of a fairytale. My Aunt Fleecy and I strolled up to the door, and as she was unlocking it she paused, and said "Renee, are you sure you're ok being here with me? It's only been a week since your mother died." This was the first time she had spoken to me since she picked me up, other than the initial greetings. Obviously, she didn't know how to discuss the loss of her sister to her niece. "Don't be silly Fleecy. I'm grateful that you've taken me in. I'd much rather be here than in the system."
"Good. Your bedroom is two doors down to the right. Please, make yourself at home." She said as she pushed open the door into the airy, light stone cottage living room area. "Thank you so much Fleecy. I'm going to go freshen up now, if you don't mind, and maybe take a nap."
"You go ahead dear, I'll wake you up in time for dinner."

I took in a sharp breath of amazement as I stepped into my moderately sized bedroom. In it, the walls were lined with bookshelves filled to the brim with novels of every size, shape, and colour. You could see a small bathroom attached to the left, opposite to the queen sized bed on the right. Sliding doors opened up to the backyard and the forest. Maybe this place won't be so bad after all I thought. I placed my things at the bottom of the bed, then laid down and closed my eyes. Something smells really good. With that last thought, I drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
