"The Human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all, but it is the most difficult to play." –Richard Strauss
Jason jumped, almost dropping his cup of coffee when he heard the phone ring. Quickly placing the steamy mug on the coffee table in front of his lounge, he runs to the ringing phone.
"Hello?" he asks politely.
"Hello, is this Jason Porter?" an angelic voice asks on the other end of the phone. Jason opens his mouth to speak but suddenly finds that nothing will come out. It was as if he was in a siren's trance. Completely and utterly hypnotised by this woman's sweet voice, and he knew that if she asked him to do something, he would do it, without a single doubt. "Hello?" the second greeting jumped him back into reality and he quickly stuttered,
"Y...Yes, I'm Jason" he breathes heavily, trying to calm his heart down.
"Oh, Hi. My name is Isabella Alexander and I work with Lightningdolts Power Inc. and I am calling in regards to an overdue bill you have on our records." That snapped Jason out of his trance and into a blinding rage.
"WHAT! Ms Alexander, I can promise you that this must be a mistake. I have a plan with you in which I pay a certain amount of money each week so that I am ahead with my payments. So I can assure you that I can't possibly be late. I have bank receipts, to prove it..."
"Sir, please calm down. I believe you. Just give me a moment and I'll have a look through your file and check and if you can be so kind as to send me those receipts I am sure we can figure this out." Eventually her voice lulled Jason into a calm state and he took deep breaths to get his breathing under control. Walking over to the computer, Jason manages to send Isabella the bank receipts and after a few hours they managed to solve the problem.
"Again, I hope you can accept my sincerest apologies sir. I'll make sure to make a note on your plan so this doesn't happen again," Isabella said.
"Oh no, its fine. I'm just glad we got this sorted out," Jason said nicely. "Well it was nice talking to you Ms Alexander"
"You too, Mr Porter" she says. Then all that came after than was the sound of dial tone. Jason never thought this would happen, but for once he was glad to get a call from the electric company. But he also admits that he has never felt disappointment like this before and he hopes with all his might that perhaps maybe the gods might take pity and he might cross paths with Isabella again.
**3 months later**
Today is the day of Jason's brother's wedding. He can safely say he has never seen his mother cry as much as she did today. The girl he married was absolutely lovely and was really a considerate person. Except for the times when she tried to pair him up with one of her friends. His brother and his wife have dated ever since high school started and now finally finishing university they decided to get married. Jason couldn't be happier, his baby brother was growing up. Now standing in the reception, watching them take their first dance as husband and wife, Jason's mind wandered to the phone call he receive a few months ago. Thinking hard, Jason hardly believes the next voice he hears to be a mirage, but it wasn't.
Snapping his head towards the voice, Jason is blessed with seeing the most beautiful sight in the world. Standing before him was an angel in a red flowing dress. Her skin was fair as snow, he lips as red as roses and her dark brown hair flowed down her face. Looking at her, Jason becomes mesmerised by her deep ocean eyes and in a dream-like state, Jason walked towards the angel. Finally catching her attention, he builds up the courage to speak.
"Isabella? Isabella Alexander?" she looks at him confused, until clarification takes her features.
"Jason? Jason Porter?" Jason grins widely as he nods at the woman. She smiles along with him, "Would you like to dance?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you?"
"Depends are you asking?"
"I would be honoured" Jason says and when he offers his arm, she takes. The entire time he was smiling, like a fool in love. Completely unaware that he was dancing with his soon to be wife. The woman whom he loved completely and had met of an overdue electricity bill. Love surely works in mysterious ways.
