"Ladies! Can you give me some piece of mind! I am trying to sleep!"  Darren shouted from the stairs. We laughed out.
Moh wasn't that bad as i had expected but still i wanted to know why my bro was dating her. She got up and went up stairs and once again lone took over. Ted walked past me to his room and i followed shortly after he shut it.
"Wendy leave!"  he ordered.
"I am not leaving. Everything is wrong."  i replied. He couldn't resist me any more as i got on his bed and lay on his chest.
"You know you messed and seducing me wont work." he said as i touched his neck.
"But making love to me will!"  i kissed him.
"This is not all about sex!"
"You think am using you! Like a tampon!" i replied angry.
"Calm down. Who said so?"  he asked.
"You make it sound like am a harlot. Ted, loving you is not an option but having you is. It has conditions. Its hard!"  i started crying and raising my voice.
"Stop this Darren might hear us!" he held me.
"No! I got a right too. I want to love someone of my choice! Have him! I love you. TED, but its hard! I am done! Live like i never existed and i will too!"  i banged his door as i left and met face to face with Moh who stared at me.
"Whats wrong?"  she asked.
"You heard all i said. You can tell your boyfriend too!"  i shouted as i walked out of the house, to the drive way and drove off. I needed to be alone. Its high time i focused!
For the first time i drove to my granny's home. She sat outside basking and started singing when she saw me. I smiled as she welcomed me.
"You look troubled my child." she said giving me some herbal green tea. She always said it was her secret to beautiful skin even after aging.
"Where is paps?" i asked her.
"Your uncle just took him to the clinic. His eyes are troubling him. How is Dar?"  she asked.
"He is fine."
"Found a girl yet?"  i laughed.
"Nana, you know Darren and women!."
" Just like your grandfather and dad. May my son's soul rest in peace. Darren is getting old, he needs a wife. " she said knitting a sweater.
" I have told him a thousand times. " i felt i had neglected this part of my family.
" He came here two weeks ago and brought some gifts and shopping. Of late he is getting responsible. He seems to be waking up now. I told him i need grand children to replace your mother and father. But he laughed. I saw joy in him. But you, you look disturbed. "
I looked at her. Her eyes were pure white with a bit aging lines besides them. She always said she had lived happily ever after even though she knew that didn't exist.
" I am doing what Darren doesn't want. " she held my hand.
" You are so much like my son. But your personality so different. What is it you are doing? "
Being brought up as Catholics, i had seen mum visit the church most times to confess. I didn't like it and most of the time i was in protestant church. She had just sounded like one of the fathers i had talked to after the first time and last that i smoked.
"You remember Mrs. Shevi?"
"Who wouldn't remember such a lady with a beautiful heart?"  she smiled.
"Her son is working at home. I love him."
"Are you talking about Solomon or the son from the army?"  she asked. She seemed to know them a lot.
"From the army, Ted, that's his name Nana. " she nodded.
" That son is much like the mother. I liked him. I remember once he visited your home with his mum and Dar tried to do something silly to you and he strongly defended you and ended up hurt. Your dad got really angry and ordered he should never come to your place not knowing his son was a bully! So he is back? " she added more herbal tea.
" Yeah, he is in charge for six months until his mum is back. "
" Yeah, she told me her daughter in_law gave birth to her and nobody wants to give birth to my son. " i laughed.
" Dar will Nana, don't worry. So i was telling you i love him. "
" Then get married! Perfect match my child. " she was excited.
" Nana! Look at our social classes! " i replied.
" love doesn't care. I was from a rich family when your paps married me. My family thought he wanted the money and i couldn’t get married to him. Then one night we left by train. With only the clothes we had on and shoes. Here we are. We are even richer than my family is. Its all here. " she touched her left part of her chest." Its all in this heart. Use it, follow it, let your mind not create too along bridges. The key to happy ever after is to know how to sole issues in a relationship and always have a happy ever after after every wave. It doesn't last most of the times, but its the best. " she talked from here experience.
History was repeating itself. The more she narrated of what had happened. The more i saw myself in her shoes. But running away with Ted in this century wasn't the best idea. Darren would do something stupid. I spent the night there having left my phone back in the house.
Paps didn't even ask why i was around, but he was happy to see me. He always called me his wife of which Nana would pretend to be jealous. I dropped him at a meeting he was to attend in the afternoon and drove home. Lydia's car was in the parking. I locked the car a and walked in to the house. Lydia was asleep on the couch and Ted was busy blending juice.
"Hi."  i said filling yogurt in my glass. He switched off the blender and took the juice. He didn't reply.
"I said hi."  i repeated.
He looked at me and walked out to the back yard with two glasses of juice. I followed him and there sat Darren and his girl.
"So you are back! Why didn't you tell me where you went. Nit until Uncle lavi called to confirm fifteen minutes ago if you made it home. Whats wrong? Come and sit here."  he said.
"Am good. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon." i told him and walked in to the sitting room.
"We need to talk!"  Darren came after me.
"Talk about what?"  i asked him.
"You and him!" i turned around.
Not Melvin again!
