I followed him as he walked. I could see there were plantations too beyond as they sloped towards a river. We sat on a garden twin chair and enjoyed the view.
"Wendy, this is my land. I and my brother got this shares from our late dad. He died when i was born. Far in the war. He was in the army too. My mother was  thrown away from this land and my uncle took over but two years ago, Solo went to court and we got it back. Its thousands of acres! My brother took the west farm, mum is in the south farm. Beyond that river. You see that home? " he asked pointing. I nodded.
" That's it. She is not there though. She is at my brother's. You know the girl gave birth to her. She wont leave herself there. " i laughed.
This was getting interesting. Ted was rich, very rich but never bothered to tell me. Or did Darren know? I wondered.
" This is our home if you accept to be mine.! " i looked around a gave a whistle.
" Then why are you still working as servants? Even your mum? " i asked.
" we enjoy our job. We are one family that goes with the passion. That there is the servants quarter. They are 7 i bet, all females. All the other males work in the fields. Some women too. Its not an easy job to take care of this plants. They pluck your hands a lot. Its painful. Come, let me show you. I wont get hurt but you might. "
Sure enough i did and my finger was bleeding. Just a little pluck and it was total pain. He held my hand as he showed me around. All the while my mind was somewhere else. What other secrets did he have in store for me? On that thought i waited until he had undressed and was ready to jump in to the river.
"I am pissed off." i said it out so casually as if it was not a big deal.
He took it serious and sat back.
"What more do you lay hidden from me?"  i asked him.
"I am not tycoon rich like you people, thats why i never told you. I am a farmer! Your brother wont take that."  he said.
"No, you are an investor."  i replied.
"I am not!"
"You are richer than us! You own the Dwellers wines Company. I am putting on your company's cap. Look, we don't have clothes branded our names!"  he knew i was right. He was filthy rich. Where ever he took the money i couldn't tell.
He jumped in to the river without talking and swam. He then showed up and said,
"Social class will break us, name tags will. I didn't want this to happen to us Wendy. But it is now. We have worked so hard for this."  now that really hit hard.
"So you think am breaking this?"  i asked standing.
"I didn't say that. I hate social classes. Forget i own this. " i looked at him and left.
He caught up with me.
" What is it again? " he asked.
" How many women do you have in your life? " i cannot tell where that question came from but i was all of a sudden a jealous girlfriend.
" That again? I ask everyone if i have ever brought any woman here. None! If i had them it was in the city. "
Now that made me more jealous. So he had women then, he made love to them and whispered every word he did to me. I started seeing him like my brother's friends. How they did it with women. He placed his hand on my shoulder.
" Don't touch me! " he quickly removed his hand.
" Whats wrong, tell me. " now this i had ruined.
"  Is there any difference between you and my brother's friends? " he held his head. I walked on.
" Now you see me like them because i got money? I got projects i work on. I don't have money to waste on women i wont marry. And Wendy, you really have pissed me off. " he walked in between the plantations and was gone. Left with only a path to follow that i didn't know where it lead, i walked on. Luckily a harvester came by and the driver offered a lift.
." You must be the boss's girl. We thought he do never bring a girl around, am Sam. " he said.
" Wendy. " i replied.
He talked of the firm, how the profits have raised and their wages, the failure in the last three months gone. At times i didn't even listen to him. As we came to the view of the house. He dropped me there and went ahead to the factory.
Jenna stood at the small get waiting. Its as if Ted had told her to wait on me. She gladly showed me around.
"Sir Mirisma really has taken time to bring you over here. For how long have you been together?"  she asked showing me around the second kitchen that was all white marble, just the way i would have loved it. It was like my dream home. Rich velvet royal purple and violet couch and curtains all white.
"Two months."  i replied and she stopped on the tract.
"Two months and he brought you here. You must be really special. When he was having this place built, he really made it hard for the workers. He designed it himself, did the painting, furnished. Everything was done in a specific way. Then he ordered this."  she pointed at a door. I opened and walked in.
"Wow! Just as i would have wanted it. This reading window is perfect!"  i exclaimed.
"It ain't the only one in the house. The master bedroom has one too. Last month he asked for a room in the west wing to look like more of an office with lots of drawers. Its epic but i can't tell what its work is. Come, let me show you."  i followed her eyes all open. Then it hit me.
When Ted had been around my home when i was six, he used to talk of houses. I remember us going through a magazine and i had cut out a page for future use in building my home. Then it hit me. This was the home.
"This is it then!"  i exclaimed loudly.
"What?"  Jenna looked confused.
I told her about it. She got carried away.
"Oh my sweet Joseph if only you were here to see what your boy did!"  she was in tears. She told me she had brought up Ted and his brother as the mother worked back in the city. I listened to her tell me of their childhood stories and i really laughed hard.
