Shayde.
It's been a long time since I have been this close to someone; physically or mentally. Even longer since I made a promise. One I shall keep until the day I die. A promise to survive. The promise I made my parents the night they died. I promised them I would survive. No matter what.
Now I have made a new promise. To stay. Hopefully, I can keep everyone else alive, but my own life is my last priority.
Now that I am staying, I have new problems. My mate. His pack, that is now, by rights, our pack. This should be fun.
I close my eyes and sigh. I push myself up and out of the compromising position, that I was enjoying way too much. "You have a pack to recover. Come on." I hold out my hand. He looks at me with raised eyebrows.
"What do you mean 'you'? Your my mate. You know what that means, right?" As he talks grabs my hand. I pull him up but he takes most of his weight. Somehow, he pull us incredibly close again. "It means you're my luna." I resist the temptation to roll my eyes at his emphasis.
"Possessive, are we?"
"Just a little." Then of course, he winks. Winks! I chuckle. Then he turns me around and hugs me from behind. "Ok, with you, maybe a lot." His breath is hot on my neck. I can smell his hormones rising. Uh oh.
I clear my throat. This is neither the place nor the time. I step out of my mate's embrace. Which reminds me! "Shayde Murphy."
"Sorry?"
"My name. It's Shayde Murphy." His face changes to pure astonishment.
"You."
"Me?" I am confused. My name isn't popular. The pack I come from is but my name isn't well-known.
"You were supposed to be dead..."
"I think you'll find, I have 'died' many times." I admit with a sigh.
"I knew it. You weren't there. We looked but you weren't there."
"Care to speak English?" What is he talking about?
"Says the person who can speak five other languages including sarcasm." I freeze. Five people know that. Four are dead. My parents, brother and tutor.
"Seth O'Neil." My voice is barely audible. Not over the sound of my speeding thoughts and silent tears. "Holy shit." I turn to face him and pounce on him. My arms around his neck, legs around his waist. The sudden weight now clinging to him should have made him at least stumble but he stood there. "How did I not recognize you? Your stupidity should have given it away." I whisper humourously in his ear. He chuckles in response.
"I missed you too." I hold on so tight, the world could've ended. "I should've known no ordinary rogue could have outrun me." I growl in warning. He knows I didn't like being different. How things have changed. He laughs aloud and spins us round. "Your alive."
"I'm alive."

We are walking back through the forest, hand in hand, in silence. We agreed not to tell the pack of my origins yet, and only those in command about our relationship. It would be a bit of a shock.
'Hi my name is Shayde. I am a rogue assassin and now, I am your Luna. Oh and let's not forget I am the last member of the Luna Eclipse pack.' Oh yeah, that would go down perfectly. Notice the sarcasm?
We break from the treeline, meaning it is time to start acting. I let go of his hand. He only sighs. I notice the woman that I met earlier running towards us, or more him. She runs straight into his arms and I almost growl. I recover quickly, hiding it with a cough. The woman doesn't notice but Seth does. Of course he does. He smirks smugly. I glare at him but give up and roll my eyes. I can't help smile a little though.
"You're ok? You are alive and well, and I haven't started seeing ghosts? Have I?" I hold back a laugh. However, Seth doesn't even try. He laughs lightly.
"I am fine." The woman exhales a deep breath. She takes a step back much to my relief. As if finally noticing my presence, the nameless woman turns. I almost stumble back. Seth has changed so much but her... she only matured.
"Oh my gosh, Thank you!" My old friend jumps into my arms. "For everything." She pulls back. "My name is Olivia. This idiot's sister." She sticks her hand out for me to shake. I shake her hand.
"Shay." Changing my name is probably a good idea. Especially to hid it from Olivia.
"Nice to meet you Shay. From what I have heard you are awesome. You actually seem really familiar. Do I know you?"
"Maybe from a past life." I say nostalgically. It isn't a lie, but a half truth. That life was a long time ago. I have changed. She has changed.
"Maybe." She holds my gaze for a few more moments but then I look away. Her infinite innocence was blinding and was making me feel incredibly guilty in comparison.
Seth comes to my rescue by clearing his throat and side tracking her attention. "Can you get Morgan and head to my office? We will meet you there. " Olivia looks questioningly, but nods anyway and walks back to the house.
"Possessive, are we?" He uses my own words against me.
"Oh shut up." He laughs and we back to the house.
"How is your shoulder?"
"Fine." He looks at me astonished.
"Fine? You're shot!"
"Huh. So I am." When did that happen? Not the first time. Far from it. He's still staring at me. Its starting to get creepy. "Stop it. You're creeping me out."
"Sorry. Can you honestly not feel it?" Funny how I couldn't until now.
"I can feel it. I am just used to it." Then I start running before the interrogation begins. Sorry dude but I plan on living to twenty five... Sort of.
