One of the few things Kay had control of was time, and she had lost it.
The food trays had stopped coming and the beatings were irregular. All her mind was filled with was the numbing pain.
The door swung open and a silhouette blocked the light from the hallway. Already? She waited for the punches and kicks which was always followed by a short question, but they never came.
"Get up."
Kay tried speaking, but her mouth was dry and tasted like pennies.
"Come on! We don't have a lot of time." the voice whisper shouted.
She scrambled onto my jelly legs and steadied herself as the room spun. A hand gripped her upper arm and pulled her out of her cell. Kay wrenched her arm away.
"You're with Bucant"
Angel's face remained blank as she replied, "I was with Bucant. Now I'm not."
Angel reached out her hand for Kay to take. Kay studied her appearance, battered yet powerful despite its scars.
Kay put her hand in hers and they were off.
It was only then that she noticed the screeching alarm. Something was happening. The clock had reached zero.
After twisting and turning in the Minotaur's maze, they finally reached a door labeled "Operating Room". Angel swiped her id card and a beep of approval was heard. They entered and Angel closed the door then bashed the lock with something heavy. It gave a high pitched ping before dying off.
She scurried over to a giant consul with various keys, buttons, and lights. Her fingers flew across them and Kay took in her setting.
It was big enough to fit at least three of her apartment and there was approximately thirty computers all holding the same picture. The picture then lit up the farthest most wall. It was not just a picture, in fact, but actually a diagram. A diagram of a meteor heading straight towards Earth.
As a clock counted down from five minutes, Angel rose a gun to Kay's head.
"Sorry," and she pulled the trigger.
