RYAN'S P.O.V
"Ouch, that's gotta hurt." Matt said with a sympathetic tone as we watched Sheryl, my ex, flirt with my other best friend Shawn. Or at least I thought he was my best friend. I broke it off with Sheryl because she became the school's, well, local flirt. I found out she was dating three other guys apart from me, including Shawn, my best friend. "You over her yet?" Matt asked, he probably saw me looking at them with disdain. "Of course I am, it's been five months since we broke up. Trust me man, I'm completely over her." I lied, not very convincingly I might add. "Dude are you serious? There are so much hot girls in our school, especially now since we're in high school. It's time for you to go out and meet some." he said.
He was right, it was time for me to move on. I could easily get a girl. Not to brag but I was tall, popular, rich, tan, charming, I play soccer, I'm pretty sweet. What more could a girl ask for?"Really? And how exactly do I do that? Do you know how hard it is to talk to girls now?" I said with seriousness. "Social media, you doink. Just hit the girl up on Facebook duh. Watch." he said as he grabbed my phone and scrolled through my friend list. "Oh look here, we got one. Amber Lynn Harper. She doesn't look bad, in fact she's pretty hot, and says here she's single" he said as he zoomed in on her profile pic. "Give me that" I said as I grabbed my phone back. Woah she's pretty cute. Wait, isn't she from soccer? Damn I need to know her. I thought. "Are you gonna hit her up?" Matt said interrupting my thoughts, seeing my obvious interest in her. "Wtf are you insane?! Of course not! She doesn't even know who I am..." I said blushing at the embarrassment of having Matt see my "soft" side. "Ha! You're blushing. What's the matter? Are you a pussy? Are you gay or something? Everyone, Ryan's gay!" Matt said mockingly. "Shut. The. F*ck. Up." I said through gritted teeth. "So message her." Matt said. "Later... Umm-when there's better internet at home." I said as an excuse, trying to get away from being even more embarrassed. "Fine." Matt said "By tonight, or else you're a pussy" he said jokingly. And it was just in time because at that very moment, the bell rang signaling us to head back to our classrooms.
I finally got home and the first thing I heard was a beep from my phone. It was from Matt. "Message her, pussy" it said. "Okay, okay. Leave me alone" I replied. Shit. I thought. He didn't forget did he. Well seems like I really gotta do it. Here goes nothing.
"Hello" was all I sent. It was the only thing I could think of. I know, I know, it's pretty lame. But it was all I could think of. I didn't want to mess my chance up with the girl who could possibly make my dreams come true, like we discussed in English class. I got a notification again, and excitedly I opened my phone. Damn. Just said "seen". Well it was too good to be true anyway. She obviously doesn't know I exist. C'mon, a girl like that? Get real.
I went to bed sadly, still hoping she'd reply.
