Jack Maynard - Gym's Aren't That Bad Part 1

"OW!" you yelped in pain as you felt a strong blunt force hit the side of your head.

"Oh my god! Are you okay?" the guy who had caused the bruise on your head rushed to your side quickly. "I am so so sorry. I'm such a clutz. Shit it looks pretty bad. Here let me help you up."

You felt for the sore spot on your head. You flinched in pain as your hand came into contact with the bruise. You smiled at the flustered boy in front of you who had caused the injury, "Oh don't worry, I'm a clutz myself. How about just an ice pack?"

He nodded quickly and rushed off to the front desk of the gym you were at to try to find some. He came back moments later, ice pack in hand and muttered an apology once more. "Can I make it up to you? How about I buy you a drink? Or take you out to dinner?"

"I think a drink will do fine", smiled at him and went to fetch your gym bag. "I really didn't mean it. I hope it doesn't swell or anything", he apologized again, a sheepish smile on his face as you made your way down to the juice bar across the street. Brushing it off you both made your way inside and proceeded to find a seat and order your drinks, which he paid for as promised. Despite the initial awkwardness, you found yourself having fun and relaxing around your newly found friend. Almost 2 hours later, you part ways and make plans to do the same thing tomorrow after gym. You were running late by now, so you decided to head straight to the Maynard-Pieters household where everyone was meeting before heading out. When you got there all the boys except Oli had arrived.

"There you are (Y/N)"

"Thought you forgot about us", Caspar cried out, engulfing you in a hug, but as soon he did he jumped away, "EW YOU'RE REALLY SWEATY!"

"I did just come from the gym, Casp", you laughed and ruffled his hair.

"(Y/N) we're heading out in about half an hour. You coming all sweaty and gross?", Joe called out.

"'Course not. Don't be silly. You know I'd never be caught out at a restaurant like this!" You turned to Jack, "Can I just use your shower? And are my clothes still here?"

"Yeah 'course. But uh I'm not really sure where your clothes are." Turning to Josh he called out, "Josh! You know where (Y/N) left her clothes from the other night?"

"Yeah I'll get it", he came up to you and went in for a hug before realising that he probably should not touch you all sweaty. He got your clothes out and handed them to you, and you went off to shower. You got ready in a record 20 minutes, not having much choice in terms of outfit. At least you had the option of a maroon loose-fit crop top or navy fitted bralette. You went with the later since you had a pair of high waisted black ripped jeans to pair it with. You settled with minimal make up since there wasn't very much you could do and the lack of time. At that moment you were grateful you carried your make up bag to the gym.

"(Y/N) hurry up", Jack whined from the living room, "I'm not gonna look this good forever. I'm growing old."

"Yeah! Hurry up woman. We haven't got all day", Joe added.

You stepped out and walked over to them, ready to go. "Hold your horses! I'm ready, I'm ready. Shall we go then?"

"Uh Oli's still not here yet." There was a chorus of whines and complains as they made fun of him for being a diva, and the boys went back to goofing around. You walked up to Jack who was sat on the sofa, scrolling on his phone, and sat yourself on his lap.

"What took you so long today? Didn't you say you were going to the gym from 4-5? Came back almost two hours after. And you didn't even shower there," Jack questioned as he let his hands rest around your waist. You've been friends with Jack for a long time now and had always been attracted to him. But you never acted on it for fear of losing the friendship. Typical, but you were just too scared. You had always thought the reason you got along so well was because he never considered you falling for him. Among your group of friends since the schooldays, you two were the only ones who still hung out, in fact you got closer over the years.

"Well I made a new friend today!" you exclaimed.

"Oh really? Who's this unlucky fella?"

Punching his arm and rolling your eyes, you replied "Just a guy I met at the gym. He knocked into me with his equipment, but he apologised and wanted to make it up to me with a drink."

Jack's eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "You do know that could've just been his move right (Y/N)?"

His accusational tone put you off a little. You didn't like it when he played down your intelligence, especially made you feel worse about something you were excited about. "He didn't do it on purpose if that's what you're saying. Not all guys are that sick."

"That's not what I meant. I'm just saying- just be careful alright", he sighed. You nodded, not bothered to reply him anymore. "Where'd he hit you? Just making sure you're alright", added upon seeing the look on your face. You lifted your hair that was covering the bump on your head. His thumb gently stroked the bruise, and he pressed his fingers to the spot softly, slowly applying pressure until you hissed in pain and flinched away. He quickly retracted, "Sorry sorry!" He pulled you back in and pressed a light kiss to the bruise.

"Yeah sure that makes it better", you joked.

Jack took it as an invite to plant more kisses on you. And that he did. He attacked the bump and the area around it with light pecks. "OI Jack! Mate, stop eating her face off!" Mikey called over.

"I can take over if you like, (Y/N)", Conor stuck out tongue, licking the air very vigorously while making sexual noises and rolling his body around.

"Oh piss off!" Jack shouted slightly embarrassed. You laughed at the scene before you and got off Jack's lap. You walked around waiting for Oli to arrive and found Jack's red bandana. "Jaaack", you sung, turning around to face the couch, you twirled it around in your hand as if to tell Jack that you were taking it for tonight. He didn't respond, but the smile on his face let you know that he was cool with it. After what felt like forever, Oli finally arrived, and the lot of you made your way to dinner.
