"i can't believe you got us lost.'
"we're not lost, we're just- taking the, um, fun path..?"
chris groaned as he paced back and forth, mumbling curse words under his breathe as mason fumbled with the compass.
i sighed in frustration, watching the two as they began arguing again.
i should've just stayed on the other side of the fence.
we where too far from the village to hear or see any sign of civilization, and mason had somehow managed to lead us off of the path and-
"did you hear that?"
mason stopped and the two went silent.
i turned my head towards chris, trying to follow his gaze as he squinted through the darkness at... something.
"hear what?"
"i don't know, just- someones out there i swear to god." chris whispered harshly, his voice shaky.
I watched hesitantly as mason rolled his eyes with a groan, "you idiot! it was probably just a deer for gods sake."
chris shook his head urgently, still peering through the trees, trying to get another glimpse of whatever he saw.
the three of us stood silently, glancing around every now and then, minutes went by, no one daring to speak.
"chris."
silence.
"chris."
silence, again.
i could tell mason was beginning to become annoyed as he shoved chris over a bit, his eyes still glued to the darkness.
"chris come on, let's g-"
"run."mason furrowed his brows, "what?"
"run!"
chris thrashed violently as he turned around, stumbling over branches as he ran off.
i looked to mason who was just as shaken as i was, before glancing off towards where chris had been looking.
i squinted my eyes threw the darkness, trying to see what had chris so spooked.
i watched, paralyzed as a large figure appeared from the bushes.
something shiny reflected off of him, and my heart just about dropped when he raised his arm out towards us.
"mason run!"
a loud bang erupted through the forest, my heart beating loudly as sweat trickled down my forehead.
i whimpered quietly as mason let out a loud gasp before sinking to his knees.
his light grey hoodie was now splattered with red as blood soaked through it, his shaking body collapsed into the dirt as his eyes fell into the back of his head.
i sobbed into my hand as I'd shoved it into my mouth to keep myself quiet.
it didn't work too well.
i turned back towards the figure who was now facing towards me, my eyes widened in panic before stumbling over myself as i turned to run.
another loud bang erupted through the trees and a gasped for breathe, clutching my chest tightly.
he missed.
i didn't hesitate as i quickly stumbled away, dodging and stumbling over trees and branches as i ran.
my heart was beating quickly, stray tears fell down my cheek and adrenaline filled sweat dripped down my forehead.
it was very difficult to see where i was going, but one could only hope it was away from that.. thing.
i ran quickly, but the quicker i ran the more trees seemed to appear, i was lost.
i quickly turned left, trying to dodge a patch of trees but my foot caught on something, snagging it forcefully, sending me to the forests floor.
i cried out as a sharp pain erupted from my ankle and i threw my arms out to in front of me, which did almost nothing to cushion the fall.
i must've hit my head on a rock as something sticky and hot was suddenly dripping down the side of my face.
with each second, my vision grew more scrambled and my eyes felt more heavy. shit.
i tried my best to stay awake, but my vision grew dark and my body went limp, leaving me unconscious and vulnerable.
very, very vulnerable.
got distracted by my crush & never finished this chapter oops (he's a dick lmao but he cute)
