*Hailey's pov*

I heard his heartbeat to my right. I looked over at the black lump with tears threatening to spill.

"David" I whispered. He turned to me as the first tear fell from my right eye.

He stretched his arm around me, I couldn't see him in the low moonlight, but I'm guessing he was looking at me concerned.

"David they are sending me. I leave tomorrow."

I've been insane my whole life, but I hadn't told anyone. David came along and I told him everything.

My parents overheard me and they thought I was dangerous.

Long story short, they ended up sending me to an insane asylum so they wouldn't get "hurt" by me.

He gripped my hand and squeezed it tight, I could feel my breath hitch. By now I was letting more tears slip down my face.

He kissed the top of my head. "Hailey, I'm gonna miss you."

I knew he couldn't fight for me. Nothing would change the fact I had to go. Maybe it was for the better.

I hugged my best friend as this would be the last time. I closed my eyes and let my mind drift away to the soft sound of the wind in the leaves.

I opened my eyes and sat up. I looked down in time to see a sleeping pile of David in the tall grass.

He snored peacefully and gracefully.

Looking to the sky I saw the stars had disappeared and were replaced by soft colors of pink and purple and orange.

I left a note on David's chest and left.

I couldn't dare wake him up to say goodbye. It wasn't goodbye.

I walked down the quiet streets to the Asylum. I walked in the front doors and got set up for a room.

"We have to have your parents sign before you are admitted ma'am." I nodded and mumbled a "fine" and waited patiently.

Eventually they showed up and signed me in.

The door opened as they were showing me to my room.

I turned to see David one last time, before I could say anything the door shut.

It was totally soundproof so there was no use in yelling to him.

I only had one thought after that-

I'm home.
