A child with dark brown hair ran through a field mid spring kicking up mud from the last storm. "Mommy! The flowers are budding!" He yelled, excitement evident in kind brown eyes. He was beaming brighter than the sun.

--------

"Hey! What are you doing?" His mother asked. A few months have passed and the field was painted with blues yellows and pinks with spots of lavender and other pastel colors spotted the field. The very same child was sitting amidst the colorful field crafting a flower crown. "It's a flower crown for you mommy!" The child grinned. "It's beautiful! I love it Robert! I'll treasure it for ever my sweet sunshine." The woman held her child close to her.

--------

16 years later Rob dragged his best friend Mathew to the field. They were both 19. Mat was really into art and he wanted to see the field Rob talked about. "It's beautiful!" Mat said in awe, looking around. "I came here with my mother all the time when I was younger." Rob smiled at the memories. "I had so many great memories here and I want to make more. So I brought you here. The best place for the best of friends!" Rob smiled. May but his lip and forced a smile back. 'Friends. That's all I am to him... All I ever will be to him.' Mat sighed.

(Quick note: Phone. It's Mat. Not may. Stop being homophobic and accept your fate.)

--------

"So. Whose the lucky guy?" Mat asked Rob in their senior year of high school. Rob came out to Mat in their junior year of high school.

-Flash back-

"Mat... Please don't hate me for this."

"I won't. I promise. I'm always here for you." Mat reassured Rob.

"I-I'm gay." Rob whispered.

Mat's heart nearly flew out of his chest. 'I so might have a chance.' He thought to him self.

"It's okay. I am too." Mat Hugged Rob.

He felt Rob relax in his arms and sigh a breath of relief. For a moment Mat felt like his dream might just come true. Maybe... Not.

-Flesh back over-

"Preston come over here!" Rob shouted. A brown haired teen with a sun for a smile and a bit to peppy ran over and jumped into Rob's arms. Mat's heart sank. "H-hey Preston! The name's Mathew. I go by Mat though." The Canadian introduced. "Yo! I'm Preston as you can tell. I live in the states but I moved up to Canada for college." Preston smiled. A Texan accent was clearly present in the teen's voice.

"I bumped into him when I was looking for flowers. We came here every other day and we became really close." Rob explained every thing in detail about how they met and fell in love. The more Rob spoke, the more Mat's heart shattered.

"You feeling okay Mat?" Preston asked. "You look a bit pale. I think you should go home." Preston looked worried. "I-I'm fine. J-just... Need a moment to take this all in." Mat whispered not really trusting his voice. His eyes were burning.

"Are you homophobic. If you are then leave." Preston hissed. "Woah Pressy. He's known about my sexuality since we were teenagers." Rob explained to Preston. Preston calmed down and apologized. "I-I think I'm gonna go h-home now. N-nice to meet you Preston." Mat headed in the direction of the his car, fighting back tears.

-------

The night Mat received a call. "Mat." The voice said. "Preston?" Mat asked. "How'd you eh my number." Mat asked, though he already knew the answer. "Rob. Y'know. My boyfriend." You could almost hear his smirk from the other end of the phone as he put in emphasis on boyfriend. "I... I thought you changed. I thought we agreed that we wouldn't interfere with each other." Mat growled through the phone.
