By fourth period, I just wanted to go home. Ever since I fell, the teasing had gotten worse. Whenever I walked by, there were whispers. Since it was so quiet, I could hear everything they said. And the words felt like knives in my heart.

"Freak."

"Infected."

"Diseased."

Sure, I had heard them all before, but these people didn't even know me. But then, someone said something that made me stop in my tracks.

"She's a slut, just like her mom."

I turned around to see a guy with long blonde hair. And when I say long, I mean long. Like, longer than mine.

I walked up to him with an angry fire dancing in my eyes. He smirked, daring me to make a move.

"What did you just call me?" I kept my temper under control.

"I called you a slut. Just like your mom."

"Why would you think my mom is a slut?" I said, getting angry with this dude.

"Because my mom is her boss. And she says your mom is a slut. And the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

And that's when I punched him. Before I could do anything else, somebody stopped me.

"Don't." said a guy's voice in my ear. I turned around to see the stranger again.

I blushed, and then asked him, "Why?"

"Just come with me." he smiled, and started walking away.

  I shrugged, and followed him.

Suddenly, he stopped walking. He turned and faced me.

"What are we doing here?" I asked him. We were in the park.

"I'm taking you to my secret place. Its the place that I go when people call me names. Usually I just come out here and read or draw."

"Thank you...for stopping me back there. I don't know what would've happened if you hadn't..." I looked down.

"Don't thank me. I could tell you needed a friend, and frankly, I need one too." he smiled.

"A friend sounds nice." I said, admiring his blue eyes.

"I love your eyes, by the way. I don't care what other people day, I think they're beautiful." he said, looking at me.

Gosh, why is he so cute?

"Thanks. Your eyes are beautiful as well." I said.

"Thanks."

We sat in silence for a while.

I decided to break the ice.

"So.. what's your name?" I asked.

"I'm Gavin." he held out his hand.

"Caylee." I shook his hand.

"Well, Caylee, I'm glad I met you."

I couldn't breathe, he was so cute.  So I just smiled, and laid down.

*****************************

"Caylee. Caylee!!" a familiar voice said.

I jumped up, causing Gavin to laugh.

"WHAT??" I yelled.

"You fell asleep and I got lonely," he said, doing a puppy dog face.

I couldn't resist the puppy dog face. I sat next to him in the grass.

"You know, I'm glad you don't think I'm a freak." I said, nervously playing with the grass.

"You're not a freak. You're just different. And that's a good thing. I mean, nobody has any originality anymore... it's like everyone had the same personality." he said, and our eyes locked.

"That is so true.. you, sir, are a philosopher!" I screamed, and hugged him.

He was surprised at first, but quickly relaxed, and hugged me back. I never wanted this hug to end, and I was a little disappointed when it did.

It was sunset time, and I had to get home.

"I'm so sorry, but I have to get home! I'll see you tomorrow, Gavin!" I said, grabbing my bag.

"Awww ok." he whined like a little baby, and pulled me into a hug. Before he let go, he pecked me on the cheek.

I could feel my face getting red, and I couldn't stop smiling.

I could already tell this was the beginning of a great friendship.
