All eyes were on me and I despised it.
As I walked towards the Gryffindor table, I could see George Weasley giving his twin brother Fred money. There was an empty seat next to him so I casually nodded to him as I sat next to him to which he did not seem to mind. The Great Hall was still in silence as all eyes were on me adjusting into my seat, they looked at me as though I did not belong.
"I betted ten gallons on you getting sorted into Gryffindor" Fred whispered in my ear.
"What did George bet?" I mumbled back without looking at him. My eyes were down onto the table to avoid everyone's gaze.
"Slytherin" he snickered out half heartedly.
"Tragic..."
A man walked to the front, he was old with a long white beard and blue robes. He kept a natural smile on his face as he stood to the front. He had introduced himself as Professor Albus Dumbledore to all the new first years and begin with his yearly speech.
"Tuck in" he began. A confused look crossed my face,"So! Now that we are all fed and watered, I must once ask for your attention, while I give out notices. Mr. Filch, the caretaker, has asked me to tell you that the list of objects forbidden inside the castle has this year been extended to include Screaming Yo-yos, Fanged Frisbees, and Ever-Bashing Boomerangs. The full list comprises some four hundred and thirtyseven items, I believe, and can be viewed in Mr. Filch's office, if anybody would like to check it."
"As ever, I would like to remind you all that the forest on the grounds is out-of-bounds to students, as is the village of Hogsmeade to all below third year. It is also my painful duty to inform you that the Inter-House Quidditch Cup will not take place this year."
I hadn't been paying close attention however, almost everyone in the Great Hall had started booing. Fred and George had been yelling in rage and I turned to my brother and caught that he did not seem to pleased either. However, the old man continued on in his speech but I had paid no attention whatsoever. My eyes were placed of Fred who was booing along with the rest of the crowd.
"Boo! That's not fair!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.
"Pull yourself together will you?" I told him.
He merely rolled his eyes at me and had calmed himself along with the rest of the school. So then he slumped down in his seat with his arms crossed his chest.
"I'm sure you can survive a year without quidditch can't you?" I asked him calmly.
"I would, if we hadn't promise to kick Slytherin's arse this year. Especially to wipe that dimwitted look on your brother's face-"
"Excuse me?" I scoffed as I was now glaring at him.
He had insulted my brother with no remorse but he did not seem to care the slightest. In fact, his friends around us had agreed with him by nodding their heads and turning their heads to throw glares at Knox. They were all on the gryffindor's team I assumed and looked to all have a grudge with my brother. Though he acted as though no one was staring at him, he was returning the dirty looks by the corner of his eye.
Offended, I gritted my teeth to stay quiet and turned back towards the Headmaster, to distract myself of the tension around me. Though, I had paid no absolute attention.
Once the announcements were over, I walked towards where everyone else with a red tie was going. Eyes were still on me however many tried to hide, obviously failing at it,I tried to seem as small as possible, hoping to make myself invisible. I tended to look sheepish and attempted to find Knox but every time I looked up, I was met with some strangers gaze and then they would go ahead and whisper about me.
