A World Beyond

In Love

In this world, at a glance there is only darkness where the light should shine.  There is hate where love should be shown, at least that's what I see everyday. Broken hearts,  tear stained faces,  scarred wrists, un-kept promises; Lying in the dirt next to everything else societies stereotypes have abandoned.
That was until I saw her. It was a warm, humid day, quite typical for where we lived, yet she was still shaking. She was shaking from anxiety of her first day at a new school. From the fear that her look of wavy hair in a half up half down style with big glasses and a makeup free face would automatically class her as an outcast. And if that didn't, then her pile of books in her hands compared to other kids;  all theirs consisted of a book and a pencil (pen if lucky), hers had books, folders, complete pencil case and novel. All neatly stacked in her arms.
It's been about five minutes now and she looks to not be shaking anymore, instead she has her glaze in lap,  her blue sea deep eyes looking down. As if she was fighting demons in her mind, blocking the rest of the world's demon; her mind enough for one.
But in that moment something changes. As I'm talking to my friend, halfway through a sentence and I just stop; because her hair; chestnut/milk chocolate medium length with natural gold brown highlights, her face; dimples,  and the beauty spot on her cheek and deep blue eyes, her everything, the way she just stood there; as if she's had peace with the depressing world outside get mind,  the light catching her blue eyes and in that moment, I fell in love.
