Jason

With Nick out of the picture, she was free, untouched, unmarked, pure territory. I shouldn't have gained these feelings for an Innocent, but her innocence quelled my aches of corruption. Alright pull it back there Jason, don't be so dramatic. But maybe she'd be good for me, and maybe I'd be good for her. Paul and I loaded up all of our bags into the SUV, then headed over to Alyssa's house. She and Chris were stepping onto the porch with her mom standing at the door. I pulled into her driveway, rolling down the window with a smile. Mrs. Alyssa's mom kissed them each before walking them out to the car. "Take care of my daughter, or I'll string you up by your slacks." she winked.

"Yes ma'am, I'll take care of her as if she were a delicate soufflé."

She snorted leaning into the window. "Well, she's more of like a good cookie, crispy on the inside, a gooey delight on the inside."

"Good to know."

"And I assume you're like a cupcake, sweet on the outside, bad for you on the inside."

Oh, I liked her mom.

"Be careful with her now, Jason."

"Yes ma'am."

Alyssa jumped into the backseat with Chris, waving to her mom. Her mom stepped back watching as I pulled out of her driveway.

"Alright, road trip rules and responsibilities." Paul announced, turning over his shoulder. "Jason is the driver. His responsibilities are driving, focussing on the road, and not killing us. Me as shotgun, I am in charge of staying awake, mad aux cord skills, and navigating so hard. As the back seat passengers, you are snack distributor captains and reminderers that bathrooms exist, also, napping like you're a year old. Any deviation from these roles will result in automatic ejection from the vehicle. Questions?" he finished.

"Yeah, does the aux cord ever come into the backseat?" Alyssa asked.

"You'll have one chance to prove you're worthy of the aux cord. Remember, the aux cord is a privilege, not a right." he answered.

She extended out her hand, with an arched brow. Paul placed the white cord in her hand, giving her an equally challenging look. She connected her phone unleashing a nice beat. Paul narrowed his eyes at her, leaning back in his seat. He didn't like relinquishing control of the aux cord. It was an extension of his soul.

Soon enough, with Alyssa's mad DJ skills, and the destruction of the road trip food chain, the glistening ocean came into view. Brett, Carly's manager, had set us up at the Hotel Del Coronado

I brought the SUV to a stop where Brett, Carly, and other members of her band were bringing their bags down. He welcomed us to the hotel opening his arms up wide. Carly shielded Alyssa's eyes at the sight of his brown, curly belly hair. Oh god, save me too Carly. I introduced Alyssa and Chris to the crew, glancing at Brett. He had a knowing look on his face. I rolled my eyes, beginning to walk towards the hotel entrance. Brett reached the front desk collecting the room keys then turned back to us.

"Women room together, everybody else make a friend." He said, handing Carly a key card. She and Alyssa scurried off to the elevator giggling over something. Women.

Paul and I were going to room together while Chris and Carly's drummer took one room. Her guitarist and Brett were taking another and her bassist, Braden and other guitarist, Tom took the last room. Paul led the way as the elevator doors opened. My stomach dropped in excitement for a second realizing that the girls' room was conveniently right next to ours with a connecting door. I set my suitcase down, opening her room and peeked in. Carly looked at me from the bed, sliding her eyes to the open balcony. I snuck up behind Alyssa poking her side.
