The silver stream followed the end of the professor's wand as he gave his precious memories to his only love's son. He was shocked that his life had now come to an end but, he was glad. Glad he could keep his life's promise. He protected Harry Potter on his quest and reason. He supposes Harry Potter had become his reason for living. But, alas, that deed was now done and he could leave Earth and be with Lily Evans once again. He slipped out of conscienceness as he pictured her face.

He stood on the same hill he had once proclaimed his wish to Albus Dumbledore, facing the old wizard once again. His withered face was in an expression that Severus knew well. It brung bad news for him. It always did.

"I expected you to come earlier." Dumbledore said, a twinkle flasing across his eyes.

"Well, it's nice you wished me to die so early." Snape sneered.

"Hmm... you're not going to die yet, Severus."

"WHA-!" Snape yelled in fury.

"Someone, somewhere, wants - well, needs - you alive. 'Though, you're here until Lord Voldemort dies, for some reason."

"Why would someone want me alive?" Snape enquired with anguish.

"I don't know who, but someone has to swap their live with yours. It was another of Trelawney's delightful prophecies." He chuckled, remembering his most crazy professor at his time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

"Surely there's a name, Albus." Snape whined, not liking the idea at all already.

"Remus gives up his life for you once Tonks dies. He thinks he owes you a favor for all your troubles." Snape growled at his most trusted and only companion. It was getting worse by the minute for him.

"But, I do not know who needs you, except I know it is a young Ravenclaw in one of the late years with long wavy hair." Albus chuckles once again, Severus' displeasure is always a game for him. He makes games out of Severus - he knows exactly who needs him. "Let's watch some of the action." The elder wizard said, snapping his fingers before vanishing and a widescreen plasma television hovered in his place.

Harry closed his eyes, and turned the stone over in his hand, three times.

He knew it had happened, because he heard slight movements around him that suggested frail bodies shifting their fotting on the earthy, twig-strewn ground that marked the outer edge of the Forest. He opened his eyes and looked around.

(Well, you know the rest. If you want to read it again it's page 560 to page 590ish in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.)

As the battles began a tingling sensation overcame his skeleton thin figure. This sensation noted the beginning of his second chance at life; a second chance he did not want.
