Hype around the new One Direction movie This Is Us had started to build up and I felt obliged to allow myself get caught up in it. I was in regular contact with my new bosses at Modest! and was told to find out as much about Harry as I could. My new ‘boyfriend’ had a notorious reputation when it came to women, often preferring the older kind. I found myself pouring through article upon article surrounding his love life. Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung, Caroline Flack, Daisy Lowe. I couldn’t help but grow wide eyed as I saw how beautiful all these girls were. Tall, immaculate skin, impeccable style, and of course, drop dead gorgeous. Each had an undeniable aura about them. I felt out of my depth. ‘What if he doesn’t like me?’, ‘I’m not as pretty as them’, ‘What am I doing?’, some of the thoughts that ran through my mind on a regular basis. I felt at when select team of makeup artists, hairdressers and stylists were all hired to wait on my every need and I took it upon myself to eat healthy and even joined a gym. Life had never been so perfect and that was before Harry entered it.
To say I was attracted to him was an understatement. He was breathtaking. From his famous locks, to the green of his eyes and his smile, Harry was one of the most aesthetically pleasing people I had ever encountered. I found myself captivated by his personality after many late nights watching interviews on Youtube. It was true what everyone said, he was charming. It was as if it came natural to him, he was well mannered and had intelligent, well thought out answers to questions.
After being advised to give up my mundane job as a barista in Starbucks, I focused more on attending castings for modelling gigs. For the first time in my life I was busy, I always had places to go and people to see. Meetings were frequent and I was given coaching in how to handle the fame that would arrive with dating Harry Styles. Lunches with other, more famous, models were set up to get my name in the society pages. Sometimes I had to sit back and bask in the sudden change in pace that occurred within my life. It was if I had dreamed it.
Moving into my new apartment I enlisted the help of my sister Chloè, who visited from my home town. The flat itself is positioned in one of London’s most prestigious boroughs and is located near chic areas such Holland Park, Clarendon Cross and Notting Hill. ‘Sis, how did you afford this place?’ Chloè questioned for the third time, mouth slightly agape. I looked around my vast new kitchen; it was fully furnished to the highest standard with sleek, modern devices. ‘I have no idea’ I whispered back. We sat on the counter in awe of the spectacle that was my new home. ‘So when will I see you gracing the covers of American Vogue? I can’t believe my baby sister is a model. I always knew you were special kiddo.’ I chucked, ‘Oh shut up Chlo. I’m no Kate Moss.’ ‘Did I not see a picture of you with Jourdan Dunn in some gossip mag this week? You’re certainly going places. Henry Holland is also raving about you on Twitter’ Chloè responded. ‘Henry is so sweet! He’s taking me to some movie after party next week’ I smiled knowingly, watching my sister’s eyes expand at my words. ‘What film?’ she asked her voice full of intrigue and excitement. ‘I dunno, some band have a film out’ I replied coyly. This sent her over the edge ‘OMG! Is it One Direction?! Babe you are so lucky. Can we trade places for that night please? I’m a huge fan;’ ‘Hmmm, must be them’ I replied nonchalantly my smirk apparent. ‘Bitch’ my sister responded laughing. We continued catching up and unpacking my stuff. Exhausted after the day’s work, we retired to my master bedroom, falling asleep just as my head hit the pillow. Dreams of Harry clouded my slumber.
The week had passed quickly and I was becoming accustomed to my dramatic lifestyle change. The after party for This Is Us soon came around and my nerves were shot. My glam team plucked, dressed, undressed, tanned and made me up. My dress was short, revealing my pins, its gold colour contrasting perfectly with my complexion. As 9 o’clock drew closer, my breathing became quicker and when I heard the car pull up, I felt as if I would pass out. This was it, I had to approach Harry. Recounting all the bosses at Modest! told me, ‘Be yourself. You’re gorgeous, that’s half the battle won’. I clambered down the steps of my apartment building and into the black vehicle where my new friend Henry was seated, waiting on me. ‘Darling you look gorgeous’ he said as I moved beside him. ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone as perfect’. ‘Awe Henry’ I blushed. ‘You are so sweet babe. I’m so excited for tonight. Thanks for accompanying me, it’s my first big event and I didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb’. ‘Anytime gorgeous’ he winked which made me giggle. We sat in comfortable silence for the rest of the journey, my eyes peering out the window as we were driven to our destination. The city was extra crowded tonight and there was no doubt it was the five boys, who made up the world’s biggest boy band were the reason for this. We reached Zuma at 9.30. It was my first time at the venue and I was impressed by the ethnic decor and ambiance that encased it. Press were scattered around the entrance. Henry and I made our way to the door in a determined fashion with our heads down. Arriving through the doors unscathed, we were approached by a waiter offering us champagne, which was gratefully accepted. Making our way further into the venue, it was packed; however, I did not see five familiar faces. Music sounded from speakers as Henry and I mingled through the masses. I was introduced to many from the world of fashion and music. Henry was in the middle of acquainting me to his good friend Kelly Osbourne, when the DJ interrupted us. ‘Here they are everyone, the ones you’ve all been waiting for. The biggest band on the planet, ONNNNNE DIREEEECTION’ the DJ announced. Cheers erupted as the boys came in to view. My eyes landed first on Liam, he looked surprisingly sexy in his leather jacket and slick hair. Beside him stood Zayn, there was no doubt he was beautiful, his cheekbones and jaw lines were works of art. Louis came next; a warm smile graced his lips as he drank in the reaction from the crowd. Like Louis, Niall too was aware of the crowd’s actions, however, he stood in disbelief staring out into the mass of people before them, a look on his face almost saying ‘Are they all here for us?’. Lastly my eyes found Harry, a blush forming on my cheeks at the mere sight of him. He looked dapper in his blazer yet edgy in his black skinny jeans. I couldn’t stop staring. ‘Earth to Y/N’ I heard Henry say from beside me. Snapping back into reality I looked at Henry ‘Sorry, just a little starstruck’ I covered.
The night continued and I noticed my bosses from Modest! sending me glances. I was slightly embarrassed and decided I needed some Dutch courage if I were to carry out their wishes. I left Henry in the company of one of his many friends and proceeded to the bar. ‘Vodka dash’ I sounded to the barman. ‘Make that two’ my head shot up at the familiar raspy voice behind me. Green met blue as I locked eyes with Harry. ‘Hi’ he said, a grin forming on his face. ‘I’m Harry. Harry Styles. I don’t think I’ve seen you before’.
