The minute I sat down I realized something, if our governor isn’t visiting our town then what’s up with those black trucks. I decided not to worry about it since most of our questions would most likely be answered during the speech. Though as much as I tried I couldn’t pay attention to the tedious lesson about using the personification or whatever we were learning. Our learning head pieces were all down today so we had to learn old fashion or I guess you could say ‘Old School style”. My mind wandered off to a different world and all I could think about was what was happening.

“MARIYLN” My teacher yelled “I know there is a lot going on our headpieces are down for today, but that doesn’t mean we just can‘t stop learning.”

I sat up in my seat and tried to listen to the tedious lesson for the rest of class. Afterwards I had my history class. There we just sat bored and listen to about how our government has changed from having one main national leader to several state leaders who help run the nation. The rest of the day went by in a breeze. Once fifth period was done, I made my way outside the school. Maddy was sitting at the bench right outside the school looking down at her screen. Even from a distance I could notice that something was wrong, her hands were shaking and she kept playing a piece of hair that was loose from her golden braid. Cautiously I made my way over to her, hoping that nothing else had just happened.

“Marilyn, we have to pick up our sister and then get home very quickly, something else has come up.” Maddy said with a slight quiver in her voice.

“Wait what happened?” I asked running to catch up with her as she swiftly made her way done the road towards the middle school.

“The town is issuing that everyone is to stay inside and stay on the Net for further instructions.”

“Wait but what about the speech are they still going to give that?”

“They are, but it has been delayed until further notice. Now come on we have to get home quickly.”

I quickly followed her to the middle school where we briefly explained to my sister about how we needed to get home as fast as possible. Once we were home my mom ushered us into the safe room we had. The room is a room in the dead center of our house that has a double locked door and food supply inside to last our whole family for about a month. The safe rooms in the P.F.S have always been considered ridiculous and unneeded, I guess until today. My younger sisters both sat on the big couch that we kept in the safe room and had their eyes glued to the TV. My mom was sitting in the corner anxiously waiting for my dad to come home. Maddy and I stood next to the door looking at each other with confused looks on our faces. We both knew better not to ask any questions because we could both tell my mom was in no state to answer them.

I decided to break the silence and turned on the TV the P.F.S News Station to see what was going on. The channel was just playing the weather forecast showing we had our usual pleasant weather today. All of the sudden, there was a knock on the door, all of our eyes simultaneously darted to the direction of the door. Maddy looked through the peep hole and, letting out a sigh of relief, opened it to see my dad was standing outside the door.

“Daddy!” Melissa screamed running up to hug him.

“Dad what is going on? I thought the attack didn’t cause any harm. Didn’t it just cause a little scare?” Matilda asked with her wide brown eyes searching for answers.

“How about we all just take a seat and your mom and I can explain what has been going on.” My dad replied with a stern look on his face.
