Chapter Three
I gasped not knowing how to answer. I thought about for ten minutes, how I would reply to this lady. “Yes," I replied, "I want to be a witch.”
The old lady nodded gravely. “Meet me by the painted door in five hours.” She said and seemingly became a vapor and floated off on the wind. I stared in shock, ‘This is the first real magic I’ve ever seen!’ she thought ‘I really will be a witch!’
This thought occupied my mind as I ran home. I stopped at a dead end not knowing which way to go. I was in an unfamiliar part of town, I must have overshot my house, because this was near the palace, where the royal family lived. I took a moment to stare up at the beautiful palace, all aglow with paper lanterns in the garden. I whipped around as I heard footsteps coming up from a little way behind her.
‘I can't believe I'm doing this’ I thought as I walked up to the footsteps, it was Blasphemy, princess of our country! She looked at me with sad eyes saying,
“O golly gee whiz, who could this be to come to our fair palace in the middle of the night.” She said in a dry voice.
“You alright, kid? Something wrong with your jaw muscles that make it impossible to shut your mouth? Must be dreadfully hard for you.” I was stunned at the princess and I quickly snapped my jaw shut, then I muttered “I’mmmmm losssst,”
She asked me where I lived, and I told her, still getting over the fact that I was talking to a real princess, albeit a rather odd one. She grabbed my hand and helped me up. We walked together in complete silence. At first she tried to say something but I stopped her, again complete silence.
“Well here is your home...”
“Kathy.” I interrupted her but then I immediately said sorry, blushing at my own boldness.
“That's ok, well I have to go, Kathy, nice meeting you, hope to see you some other time.” Blasphemy said and she ran off with her black and silver dress following her. I was surprised, a goth, sarcastic, deadpan princess. I like her.
Anyway, when I went into the house there was a cold stare focused at me, it was confusing because 1.They (they being Auntie and Uncle)rarely get mad at me. 2. After about twenty seconds they stopped and went back to their normal attitudes.
“We were so worried where we're you you forgot to iron my underwear!” I heard my uncle call. Such touching concern. “Breakfast after you’ve cleaned!” my aunt screamed. “Umm why isn't my room cleaned, girl” Ginger yelled. Oh goody, back to normal.
Then they all started yelling at me then they all said the same words “Go be in your room until we have use of you!” Well, they all said different things, some were somewhat ruder, but I tuned those out for you.
As I walked silently up into my room, I thought, and I fumed. I was mad, how was I going to get to the lady’s house. What was going to happen? I was so confused, what was going to happen?
