The food lost its taste immediately. Even though the weather was cool, I was sweating profusely. I found it hard to swallow the remaining food. Infact, I was "belle-fulled".
After what seemed like 30 minutes, I went to meet my dad. He looked at me with his piercing eyes and I began shaking. Even though I tried to conceal it, my dad already caught me.
"Isn't today ur birthday?", he queried. I was trying to think where his question is leading to.
"Yes sir", I answered. He called on my younger sister to bring a "surprise" from his room.
Lo and behold, it was a cake. My dad hadn't forgotten my birthday. I was relieved. After the normal birthday wishes and cutting of the cake which took like 10 minutes, we ate the cake with a bottle of coke each which was provided by my ummu.
After everything, I was going to my room to sleep. My dad stopped me at the door and asked me where I went. I couldn't lie at this moment because for him to ask at that time, he has a reason.
"My friends organized a mini party for me and I couldn't help but attend. Am sorry dad", I prostrated.
"Well, just make sure that you are careful. I won't say much. Abo oro laa n so fun omoluabi".
"Thanks dad", I said and hugged him. He patted my head and I immediately entered my room.
Laying on my bed, I thought about my day, my birthday. Should I say it was a bad day or a good day or both. Well, I decided to place it amongst the good days. Reason been that my birthday was celebrated twice. I just smiled, said my adhkar and slept off.
