Chapter 2-Lucie’s P.O.V.
As I finished taking a picture of the gorgeous London sky, I heard the footsteps pound past me. But when most of the noise had stopped, one set of feet continued to walk. I looked over toward the sidewalk and saw Niall Horan slowing his pace on the street. He smiled slowly as I met his eyes. I felt myself blush and nervously combed my fingers through my hair and smiled at the ground. When I peered back up, Niall was still standing there, grinning hugely. I waved shyly at him and returned his smile as I turned away from him to go to my dad’s trailer.
I pulled open the door to my dad’s trailer and stepped inside. It was small but clean and well furnished, and it had a refrigerator that I immediately opened. I pulled out a cup of vanilla yogurt and settled on the couch while I read a book on my iPhone. Suddenly, I heard a banging on the door.
“Come in?” I asked, putting down my yogurt. The door slammed open and one of my dad’s assistant directors walked in.
“Lucie, I need your help. Grab your phone, come over to the makeup area, okay?” she demanded quickly and slammed the door. I followed her out and walked across the street to a mass of table, chairs, and supplies spread out under a tent.
“Lucie, great to see you! Grab that chair, yeah?” My dad’s usual makeup artist, Laurel, pulled me in for a quick kiss on the cheek and sent me toward an empty makeup chair. Each of the several stations was equipped with a director-style chair, small counter with an attached mirror, and a train case of supplies. As I turned away from the chair and began to sort through the makeup bag, I heard someone settle into the chair behind me. I turned around and saw Niall yet again.
“Hey, haven’t I seen you somewhere before?” he asked, smiling. He had a huge, happy grin that lit up his whole face. His eyes were bright blue and his hair was wild, messy, and blonde. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Um, yeah, I saw you in the street earlier,” I replied easily.
“Well, great to see you again. I’m Niall.” He offered his hand and I shook it.
“Lucie,” I responded. “Now let’s get this makeup situation taken care of.” I grabbed at brushes and bottles to start Niall’s makeup.
“So what are you doing here?” he asked as I titled his chin up with my fingers and applied foundation.
“My dad’s the director. I’m not usually a makeup artist, but I decided to tag along today.” I leaned his chin back down so we were eye to eye.
“I’m glad you came.” Niall smiled and kissed my cheek. I had to admit, he was really good looking. And he seemed really funny and sweet and talented. And his eyes were absolutely melting me. But I knew I couldn’t fall for him. I’d seen so many relationships go wrong. I’d seen love go wrong too many times to let it happen to me. Niall was so different though. But I couldn’t think about that now. I had to focus on his makeup. I quickly powdered his face with a huge brush. He started to cough and sneeze.
“Lucie! What was that?” he screeched, fanning his face.
“Powder! You’ve worn it before!” I laughed.
“But I never liked it!” he yelled.
“I’m sorry!” Suddenly, Niall swiped the brush from my hand, grabbed my waist with the other, and started brushing large amounts of powder on my face.
“Niall! Niall, stop!” I giggled. His hand pressed into the bare portion of my back, pulling me even closer to him.
“Lucie?” I heard my dad call. I quickly snapped out of Niall’s arms and surprisingly found myself wishing he was still holding me. What was going on?
