Mom, There's a Monster
"Help me! There's a monster inside my room," I told my mom with a trembling voice, worried that the monster might kill me once that I let my guards down. It's been a while since I felt the presence of that monster in my room and I badly want to get rid of it as soon as possible.
It is better to slaughter the monster instead of getting slaughtered, no?
"Anna, stop. There is no such thing as a monster, okay?" Mom answered. Again, I felt the creeping and terrifying feeling inside my system.
What if the monster will attack me as soon as I fall asleep? Who will save me? My mom? But she's sleeping in the other room! Maybe my father...? Oh, I forgot he does a night shift at work. I am, unfortunately, alone in the four, dark corners of my room where a horrible entity is dwelling in. No doubt it is just waiting for the right time to show itself and attack me, before slitting my throat and eating every organ in my body.
"But mom. . ." I complained but she stopped me from doing so.
"Sshh, Anna, sleep. Sleep or I'll hit you."
I don't have any choice left so I slept with uneasy feeling in my chest. I know it is out there. The monster is out there waiting for a chance to kill me. Some may say that I am paranoid and I am just hallucinating but no, there really is a monster inside my room.
It's already 2 in the morning and everything is pitch dark when I woke up because of a noise under my bed. I felt shivers on my arms up to my legs and swear, even breathing felt scary for me. The humming of birds and the sound of crickets made the night feel more eerie than before and there is no presence of the beautiful moon tonight. What a good time for the monster to show up.
"Where are you...?" I uttered in a low voice. I heard another movement under my bed and I felt terrified more than ever. I wanted to cry but I can't. Monsters love to kill scaredy cats like me. I cannot show that the monster makes me feel terrified. I need to buy some time to escape.
I wonder how the monster looks like. Is he covered with hair? Are his eyes flaring red full of hatred and viciousness? Are his teeth sharp and so do his fingers? Is he going to eat me alive or is he planning to kill me first?
"What do you want from me?" I asked another question and just like before, it answered with a loud knock on the wall. I do not know what he meant by that. I can't even decipher the meaning that it wants to give me. Was it a yes or a no?
I was sitting on my bed, unable to move due to the fear I am feeling when the door bursted open, revealing my mom in her night gown, holding a metal pipe.
Before I was scared but now I am terrified. Seeing my mom holding that thing, I knew what she is planning to do. Maybe I got her mad... so I need to get punished. And there I realized, maybe monsters aren't that scary. People are scarier. The ones alive is more terrible and horrifying than any dead entity out there.I looked at my mom with pleading eyes, "Mom, please. . ."
"You're so noisy; you need to be punished for waking me up in the middle of the night."
She walked towards me as she raised her hands as if she was readying herself to hit me on the head with the metal pipe for the hundredth time.
Yet I did not let it happen again.
Instead I reached for the sharpest knife, that I got from the kitchen, under my bed and threw it accurately enough to hit her on the chest.
She was shocked of my sudden action and was frozen on the spot. The look of terror was evident in her eyes but I could not care less. She deserved it anyways.Hatred filling my heart, I glared at her with a wicked smile across my face, "I told you mom, there's a monster inside my room."
