If only there was just one wish. One thing that you could say to make everything better.

He was powerless yet there lay his sister and his friends. And all he could do is watch. Watch there slow painful downfall into the clutches of death. The cold hard metal floor was pressed against his skin and the chunks of debree hung in the air like bee's. Chunks of wood lay beside him. He watched his friends die. He was all that was left of the blood line but he didn't care. If he died the world would end and he knew that, but immobilized and as powerless as an ant in a city, he was nothing.

A face as imperturbable as fate stared right back at him in his mind, saying 'get up Jessie get up!' It was no use...

He did not even know if he could walk, much less if he had any legs. His head felt as if a ship had been tossed to and fro on the waves of a sea. As determined as his body felt he could not convince himself to try any longer.

Katie was still there. Wasn't she. Of course, they had fallen together. She was behind him, he knew it, yet he could not bring himself to turn around. He did not care about the pain, he just wanted to see her one more time. Her glittery sapphire eyes, her smooth tanned face. The most beautiful girl had fallen in love with him and he couldn't even say goodbye.

He struggled not to let his eyes close, for he knew if they close they would close forever...
