Anyway I think it's been?? Almost exactly two years since I last posted a chapter???? Or something like that??
I am. Nowhere near as into spn as I was when I stared this,, yknow?? That was. 4?? 5??? Years ago?? I don't actually remember. All I know is I was a sophomore in high school and I am Much Different now
So enough rambling and get to the point amirite
Are. Like. Do any of you still use this site. Or like this story at all. Or want it to continue.
Seriously, I just wonder if anyone still gives half a shit about this (or spn/destiel in general tbh bc I've been very out of the loop).
The reasons I ask:
• I've started doing a rewatch of the series (I started with season 5 and finished that so I'll go back to 1 soon)
• said rewatch has brought back a lot of memories of writing this
• I have never. Ever finished a chaptered thing and I feel like if I can't manage one I never will, and if I can finish one, I'll be able to do it again, and hopefully nore often
• it could be fun to rework this and see how my writing has changed (spoiler alert: it's changed a whole fuckin lot) with two very clear examples
• truthfully I loved this story as I wrote it, and I think if I can turn it into something I'm proud of now (because I've reread some of it and o w,, I used to think this was Good work) I'd like it even more
So how would I go about doing this?? I'd probably try to rewrite this chapter by chapter. That way I can fix a lot of stuff I really messed up (and this might include a POV change to third person, but it might be good to practice first, I haven't decided), and get back into the swing of things as far as the story goes.
I could post it one (or a combination) of five ways:
• on my current ao3
• make a new ao3 just for this (because I'll admit I do feel some shame for writing spn fic in this grand year 2016-almost-2017, even though I know there is. Literally nothing wrong with that) (I'd probably put other Shane Fics - i.e. hockey rpf (I know, fuck) - on it too if I made it. Put all my shame in one place)
• make a new story on here!! I'll link it in an update on here, and it'll stay on this same profile
• just go back and change the chapters once I'm done doing the rewrite
• add the rewrites as new chapters and put something at the beginning of the story telling people to skip ahead to where the New and Improved fic starts
Personally, I'd rather not do the last two. For one, replacing the old chapters defeats the comparison purpose. Not to mention just adding them onto this story seems stupid, because why have 12 or however many chapters that are irrelevant to skip before you get to the beginning? Still, I figured I'd put those options there because they still are options, yknow
Granted,, and this is important: I have a full time job now, and I'll be going to college soon. If I do this, between writing and rewatching, this could be a slow process. Hopefully not as slow as it's been, but I have a hard time focusing and keeping motivated as it is, so this will add to it.
I just figured I'd write this up real quick and see if anyone cared enough to help me out and share their opinions!!! Please let me know!!! If you have any advice other than what I've stated please hit me with it, everything helps.
(Also I haven't looked over this at all before posting it because I'm tired and I have to wake up at 4am for work, so, sorry if it's a Disaster)
