That's what she'd constantly have since she arrived at the Glade, which was now going on for about a month. Very descriptive nightmares of her new friends, The Gladers, being killed by Grievers. Or even by the Creators whose faces were a blur to her when she awoke. She was afraid to reach out to any of the others, for fear that they would just blow it off, saying that it was just a phase and would go away soon. When such nightmares occurred, she would end up leaving the Homestead and just sit over by the Deadheads, looking up at the stars or even falling asleep with only a few hours left before the Runners would get up to go out into the Maze. Newt was the one to notice her odd actions and behavior and being one of the few to get up with the Runners, would always watch over her till he knew she would awake soon. He would find her asleep in the cracks of a tree or even at times in the top of one, but never found her asleep in the Homestead. He would try to ask her why she always fell asleep there, but she would just say that she was sleep walking. He would go along with it, not bothering to push it anymore if she didn't feel like talking about it. But Newt had enough of the lying, and tonight he was going to figure out what was really going on.
It was roughly around midnight when Newt heard the rustling of a hammock in the homestead begin to move.
"(Y/N)..."
He thought to himself as he acted asleep, straining his ears to listen to the quiet and stealthy movements that belonged to (Y/N). Trying to listen to just that was rather difficult with the various snores from the other Gladers, mostly Minho. Once he heard the door to the Homestead open and close, he opened his brown eyes and slowly sat up, being careful not to wake the other boys. He got up and followed after the girl, making his own movements quiet. He opened the door and peeked out, seeing her slowly walk to the Deadheads. Only, she was shaking and heard her quiet gasps for breath. He tilted his head slightly before moving out of the Homestead and out into the Glade. The cold air brushed against his skin, causing him to shiver slightly. It was a rather nice night out. No clouds in the sky to cover the brightly shining stars and almost full moon. All that could be heard was the quiet rustling of the trees and the occasional mooing of a cow or snort of a pig. Newt looked over at (Y/N), who was now sitting on a bench near the box, shaking and holding her arms. From what Newt could see, she was crying. And rather hard at that. Each sob shook her whole body, causing her to look as though she had been stung. Newt quietly made his way over to her, not wanting to scare her.
(Y/N) soon moved her hands to cover her face, to try and calm herself. This nightmare was not like any of the others. She was the one doing the killing this time.. But the person made her nightmare that much worse.
She held the gun to his head, his brown eyes now wide and staring up at her. Behind her, a WICKED agent smirked, holding his left hand in his right hand behind his back.
"Just pull the trigger (Y/N)... He never cared for you.. None of them did."
He had said, the voice burned into her mind as her finger moved to the trigger.
"That's why we took them out, so you wouldn't grow so close to them.." Newt shook.
"(Y/N), (Y/N) please don't do this... WICKED is just playing with your mind! We cared for you!" He had screamed at her, tears beginning to form in his eyes. She remained emotionless as the boy she fell head over heels for shook. She quietly muttered,
"I'm sorry Newt... But WICKED is good.." Newt shook ten times worse before a loud bang went off.
(Y/N) took in a breath as the memory replayed in her head, causing her to cry worse. Was WICKED just putting that in her mind? Or was she really dreaming it? She didn't care either way, she just wanted these nightmares to stop once and for all.
"(Y/N)...?" Newt quietly said, standing near the bench. (Y/N) jumped to her feet, quickly wiping her eyes.
"I thought you were asleep?" She questioned him, trying to keep her voice straight and calm. Newt looked her over a bit, noticing how red her eyes were.
"(Y/N), what's wrong?" He asked calmly, avoiding her question entirely. She tensed up, tears forming once more in her eyes. Newt noticed but remained where he was, silent and watching her. (Y/N) began to sob once more but this time, she hugged Newt tightly. Newt blinked once in confusion before he felt her body fall into his arms and hugged her back, soon slowly rubbing her back.
"Hey hey... Deep breaths. You're okay.. You're okay.." He whispered into her ear, slowly moving them both onto a small patch of grass. They remained like that for several minutes, Newt holding (Y/N) close as she cried. He watched her, his heart aching. He loved this girl, yet he could never admit it. His heart hurt just seeing her like this. Did one of the other Gladers do something to hurt her? Or was it some girl thing? He let out a small breath and held her closer to him, his arms tightening around her. (Y/N) coughed quietly but soon gathered herself enough to speak.
"N-Newt.. C-Can I tell you something..?" She asked, her voice quiet and scared. Newt looked down at her and gave a nod.
"Yeah, you can." He said.
And then began the explanation. (Y/N) told Newt everything, from the moment she had the nightmares till the one she recently just had. And Newt listened to every word, on occasion wiping a tear or two from her face, but still listening. Soon she finished her story and glanced at Newt with tears in her eyes once more. Newt gave her a warm and gentle smile.
"Hey.. Don't worry about... Alright? I promise it'll never come to that... Minho will find a way out of here along with the others and I promise we'll take WICKED down together for what they did to us.."
He said with a smile on his voice, his voice certain. (Y/N) gave a small chuckle at his little speech and wiped her eyes fully.
"Newt? Can I tell you something else...?" She asked, her voice going quiet once more. He nodded, wondering what else she had to say.
"I.. I really.." She bit her lip then huffed. "I better just show you.." She said and kissed him. His eyes widen a bit before he relaxed and kissed back. Both were surprised at the sudden actions each of them had just done, but enjoyed it all the same.
~EXTENDED ENDING~
Alby shook Newt's shoulder hard and fast, causing the boy to groan and look up at his friend.
"What do you want, Alby...?" He yawned out, sitting up. He was still outside, but everything felt rather... Odd.
"You may want to put your shucking shirt on, Newt. Before the others get up at least." He said with a grin. Newt blinked and looked at himself then paled. He was only wearing his pants. What the hell happened last night? (Y/N) looked over from behind Alby's shoulder and grinned down at Newt.
"You know Newt, I enjoyed last night~" She said with a flirty tone, causing Newt to turn red. Alby glanced between the two, eyebrow raised.
"What did happen last night?" The leader questioned. Newt glanced at (Y/N) and noticed a small, but obvious mark on her neck and grinned.
"Oh, just some late night talks. No worries, Alby."
