" You know you can't give me what I need. And even though you mean so much to me, I can't wait through everything" I sing at the top of my lungs as Ari taps the beat of the song on the steering wheel.
A smile pressed the corners of my face as I lean my head back and let the wind blow through my hair. People beside us on the freeway were giving us dirty looks as we drove with the top of Ari's convertible down in the middle of September and blasting music into the atmosphere.
" Is this really happening? I swear I'll never be happy again. And don't you dare say we can just be friends. I'm not some boy that you can sway. We knew it'd happen eventually" his smooth voice carried my hair with the wind as he sang his lyrics.
"Dude you so should go on the x-factor or something." I yelled to him over the music.
He turned to me for a second, taking his eyes from the road, and sent me a cheesy smile that made volcanoes erupt in my stomach. His dark brown hair was flying into his eyes and his skin still held the summer tan he's gotten from running outside so much.
He turned back around before saying the words that made my wolf howl from inside me.
"Anything for you babe."
I know he didn't mean it literally but somewhere inside me a flower began to bloom and reason was slowly being washed away and I was just simply living in this fairytale moment with that beautiful boy sitting to my left.
I tapped the end of my eraser on my desk and watch the little hand on the clock. Only two more minutes of this hell.
It's an understatement if I told you that school was bad because when you feel blazing blue eyes on your back the entire day, then it's a whole lot more than just bad.
"I hope you all had a jolly time on your first day back! I think this is going to be such a great year for-" the teachers little speech was cut off by the shrill bell ending the day.
I was off of my seat in no time and out the front doors of school before I even had time to let out the breath I've been holding for the past hour.
I sprinted to my bright red car and just as my fingernails grazed the handle, I was roughly snatched backwards and slammed against a bright green truck. Pain surged through my back and there was a pounding in my head telling me that blood was flowing slowly to my head and that I was close to passing out.
I wasn't processing things. it was like the whole world was a giant blur and the only reality I knew was the feeling of soft fingers wrapped in a death grip around my neck. My wolf was growling lowly from inside me but she wasn't pushing me to fight back and I knew that without her I wouldn't be able to stand a chance against whoever was attacking me.
Slowly, my tan eyelids slid closed covering my blue eyes' vision. Being oxygen deprived wasn't anything new to me and I would be able to survive twice as long as a human would but this was different. My whole body seemed to relax as a slick fabric like object was forced into my mouth and down my throat.
"Claire!" The same voice that caused the nightmares I had every night and the butterflies to erupt in my stomach at the mention of his name, called out in panic.
That's how I knew something was terribly wrong.
For one, Ari was never worried or broke out in blistering panic, he was always so frighteningly calm. and secondly, he hasn't spoken to me in three torturous months, let alone called me by his nickname for me.
Panic suddenly arouse within me but before I could conjure up the strength to open my eyes and fight back, a piercing sound exploded in my eardrums and scarlet liquid trailed into my gaping mouth.
I could still hear the echo of Ari's bottom belly growl as I hit the ground and a forceful darkness began to stab at me.
