I found my self struggling to sleep, I was too transfixed on the way that the small gap in my curtains dimly shone the shape of my window panels onto my ceiling from the streetlamp outside. I knew that all around me in the neighbouring apartments, people were enriched in a deep slumber but my brain just couldn't succumb to the desired sleep.
My brain raked through old memories and recent conversations, continuing the restless agony of over thinking. The sea of bed sheets and uncomfortably warm pillows weren't helping the situation.
I turned my head to glance my alarm clock. Three in the morning. Oh great. I considered reading or going for a walk to clear my mind but decided against both. I didn't wan't to stimulate my brain anymore than it already was. So I just l laid there.
Just as I was slowly drifting to unconsciousness I heard a loud clatter from outside followed by a loud chorus of dog barks. It was only then when I realized sleep just wasn't coming to me tonight, no matter how hard I tried.
My mind began to wander again and the events of that morning came reeling into my head. I got into a car with a total stranger, that wasn't like me at all. Looking back I decided that it was a really bad decision. I still have no idea who this guy was and I've accepted an invitation to go into his home. No this wasn't me at all. Why was he different? Okay usually people don't try to spark up a conversation with someone trying to pay their bills by sitting on the pavement but why when I think about him does my heart do a small flutter.
Oh God I'm going insane. I hardly know the guy and I'm already thinking about him at three am.
Looks like I'm just going to have to wing this dinner tonight.
