Coach blew his whistle and everyone gathered around him eyeing him curiously. Everyone wanted to know who would be receiving the place as captain of the team.
Coach cleared his throat and looked up from his clipboard, “After careful thought and watching how well Hayes and Clark got along with everyone on the team I have decided who should be captain.”
I wanted to roll my eyes at how seriously he was taking this. I mean neither of us graduate this year what really mattered was what happened next year. I glanced at Briley and saw she wore the same bored expression I did.
“I would like to congratulate Skylar Clark we the new captain,” Coach said smiling at me.
Everyone threw their hands up in joy and I felt Briley and Harper grab my arm and start jumping up and down in happiness. Me, what did I do? I stood there watching as Coach walked off with a shocked expression on my face.
I got captain? What made him pick me? I wasn't even close to being a leader on the field. I did pretty well and I tried to look out for my teammates, but I was sure he would pick Briley over me.
Katie walked up to me and hugged me smiling sweetly, “I know you’ll do great.”
Everyone congratulated me and then scurried off to the locker room to get changed and get on with their lives. Briley, Harper, and I started walking towards the bleachers where the two distractions of the day sat.
“Why was everyone screaming?” Landon asked as we sat on the bleacher in front of him.
“Skylar just got team captain,” Harper announced laying on the bleacher kicking her cleats off making them clatter on the metal bleacher.
“Oh really?” Ryan asked giving me an impressed look.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” I said untying my cleats, trying to look like I didn't care he was impressed was harder than I thought it would be.
“Why were you three bumping and grinding on each other throughout the whole game?” Landon asked.
“What?” the three of us asked in unison.
The only person I want to bump and grind on is that sexy beast sitting next to you. Shut up, I hissed to the perverted part of me. I hated that damn voice; it was going to get me in trouble one day.
“You guys chest bump throughout the whole game,” Ryan explained.
I’d bump my chest on you. I swear bitch you better shut the hell up.
Make me.
“We do that every time one of use assistant a goal or we score,” Briley explained.
“Well maybe the next time you can run over here and chest bump me,” Landon smirked.
I looked at Harper to see her wiggling her eyebrows at me. I bit my lip trying to contain my laughter and saw the familiar smirk that graces Briley’s face when she’s planning on taking the guy home for a quick roll in the sheets.
“Okay,” she said smiling innocently. What a load of shit she isn't anymore innocent than me, now Harper had us all beat. That girl just really liked sex. I mean really liked sex; she probably doesn't remember how many partners she’s had. But I love the little slut like one of my many sisters.
“But you have to smack me on the ass too,” she finished. There it is! I knew she was would pull through for me.
Ryan barked out a laugh and everyone eyed him questioningly. He smiled shaking his head; “After you guys did that the first time he said he would love to smack one of you on the ass.”
